That's a valid point --- thanx for the suggestion for a future column. In the Winner's Guide, with essentially unlimited length, Liam W. Daily and I spent several thousand words discussing this topic --- including the "why." ("Robbie's Rule" was not discussed in the Winner's Guide.) In this particular column, my task is to say something in 800-or-so words. Therefore, I frequently need to address bite-sized chunks of a particular subject.
I was sure I addressed 4-card straights in NSU in some earlier column on that forum, but I can't find it --- so that means it needs to be be done in the future. It won't be immediately as the next two columns are already written and will be on 10/7 Double Bonus, but it will likely be before the end of the year.
