Bob,
Good points on the Palms "Days That Pay" promotions. I think it's a common misconception to assume that these promotions are exactly the same as a double points day. As you pointed out, they are not in fact doubling your points, giving you an extra amount of points equal to the amount you earned, but are giving you the option to redeem *previously earned* points for an equal amount of freeplay.
So I think the best way to think about these promotions is that it changes the value of the *previously earned* points, not points earned in the promotiont. So if you played previously on a 2x points day, those points now become worth "almost" 0.5% if redeemed as freeplay at a later date during these promotions. I say "almost" because freeplay is not exactly equal to cash, but is only worth 99.73% of cash if you play the freeplay through on NSUD.
So the value of previous play becomes 0.5%, but the value of play during the promotion is still only 0.25%. Of course, this doesn't count any drawings or other giveaways that they do during these promotions or other times during the month.
