In reading the article I came to the sentence where Bob said he had
won $240,000 for hitting a royal flush.

I went through all the denominations and machine types in my mind and
had to "puzzle through" what he might have been playing.

Then, it dawned on me that many of the Harrahs properties offer 9/6
Jacks on a 3-coin $100 machine in High Limit.

$100 x 3 x 800 = $240,000.

BINGO!

Hard enough to hit a royal on any single line machine, which is why
many of us play multiple lines (or Spin). But imagine hitting on a
single line $100 machine. Not too shabby!
