Bob Dancer's article of 04/17

I read the article and while I would not have taken advantage of this
for many reasons, I can see why he thought it was a good idea.
However, Bob, maybe you can tell me what these "travel bucks are" that
you refer to. We don't play $5 machines so maybe that is why I never
heard of this.

One of the options for your Boarding Pass is to use your points to go
through Prestige Travel and purchase plane tickets, cruise tickets,
hotel rooms, etc. I believe the rate is 1000 points per dollar at
Station and 1400 points per dollar at Fiesta. It's possible you might
need to be at a certain level to be able to do this. Someone recently
told me he was limited to $750 at a time and the travel had to be in his
name, but Shirley and I are Chairman Level and do not have that
restriction.

Prestige does NOT seem to be able to find the best price and there's a
$50 per transaction service charge (payable with points), but overall
this remains one of the best ways to spend large quantities of points.

At Stations, the redemption rate depends on Boarding Pass level. One
must obtain Platinum level or higher to qualify for Travel Bucks. The
rate for Platinum is 1200 pts = $1 travel. At President and higher
levels, the rate is 1000 pts = $1 travel.

Indeed. I estimate the markup to be in the 15-20% range.

I found a good price on the Internet for one of my flights and Prestige was able to beat it. Of course, they did add the $50 service charge.
