Is Bob Dancer ruining Video poker here in Las Vegas? He is hitting the big
payouts. And Casinos are changing there machines to pay out less. Some of us
are just starting out, and are haveing trouble finding good machines. We go
to a place and hear he cleaned-up so they took out the good machines. He is
playing Video poker to death here in Las Vegas?

I'll say this, you can't fault Bob & Shirl for taking advantage of a
good thing. That's basically what this group is all about. As a
result of his 'winnings' (got that one right this time!) he is not
welcome as a VP player in many casinos.
I sincerely doubt that he is the single cause behind casinos
tightening their grip on the dwindling VP opportunities. Frankly,
without Bob, the tools and knowledge on how to become an advantaged
VP player may never have come to press ... well, they'd have probably
been delayed a bit.
Whatever the case, Bob is deserving of nothing less than a big THANK
YOU for his efforts and contributions to the advantaged player
knowledgebase.
If you speak to any of the consistent (or should I say persistent?)
advantaged VP players in this group, you'll discover that they still
find those opportunities that are the 'best of breed' despite the
recent 'culling efforts' of the casinos.
New opportunities are bound to arise ... even the occassional casino
OOOOOPSIE-DOOOOPSIE ... that allow advantaged VP players to make a
short term gain or, on that rare occassion, killing!
So don't be so quick to condemn Bob, Shirl, or for that matter, any
other skilled VP player in or outside of this group. They're all
trying to make the BEST of the situation, which is what you too
should be trying to accomplish. Fortunately, they are kind enough to
share their thoughts, views and opinions with all of us.
Save your anger for those GREEDY VP players who will call their
buddies and LOCK-UP a due progressive bank or other 'above-average'
opportunity and play it to death, not allowing anyone else to
participate and immediately drawing unwanted attention from casino
management that they've made a boo-boo in offering something that is
just too good.

Hi Everyone-
I'm an Atlantic City quarter player, and I can't thank Bob Dancer enough for what he has taught me - in person, strategy cards, columns in Casino Player and on the Web and Winpoker. I went from losing about $3,000 a year playing one quarter at a time and getting almost no comps, to breaking even and getting comped to more stuff than I can possibly use.
I just got back from Vegas, and if you stay away from the megaresorts, full-pay opportunities are still all over the place at the quarter level. I hear they are tightening up on the $1+ level, but my bankroll won't allow that level of play so can't speak to it. I haven't quit my day job _ I even happen to like it _ but use the skills Dancer publicized to have fun in the casinos and make my money last.
Hogging machines is a BIG problem in Atlantic City, especially at Trump Plaza. There are 8 Game Makers at Trump Plaza with full-pay Pick Em, and a gang of people hogs them every day (except maybe Thanksgiving and Christmas) from about 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. It is rare to walk by and find all 8 machines in use, usually one or more have cups all over the seat and the tray, often for hours at a time. These folks aren't pros (impossible to make a living at VP in Atlantic City) or advantage players, just hogs who like that bank of machines. I often see them playing keno or short-pay games on the machines. The casino lets them do it, probably because they lose a ton of money. Fortunately, a couple other casinos have full-pay Pick Em and a higher class of clientele.
I wish Dancer's methods would become more well-known in AC, and maybe gamblers would insist on good machines. As Dancer said, recognizing a full-pay machine and playing it well are two different animals, and the former is a lot easier than the latter. But as long as people happily play AC Jokers and 6/5 Jacks or Better, I guess I'm dreaming.
Oh well, I've rambled on enough.
