... It's a virtual mathematical certainty that my gambling score will
continue to go up, albeit with frequent swings.

I usually don't respond to questions about my financial well-being, but
fairly recently there was some comment on VPFREE that Shirley and I
were in dire financial straights, so I figured this was a good time to
set the record straight.

2001 was our only year with an annual gambling net of over $1 million,
and my assets were at a lifetime-to-date personal best at the end of
2001. It inspired a book, which many of you have read. Just counting
2002 and later, our gambling score has been plus, my writing revenue
has plus, my teaching revenue has been plus, and our net assets are
higher today than they were at the end of 2001.

The last three months have been a moderately-sized (for me) losing
streak. These things are part of every gambler's life, including mine.
Overall I like my life. Shirley and I are very aware that we've been
blessed.

Merry Christmas to all.
