Brian wrote, paraphrasing, ethics and integrity are reasons to buy or
not buy products. So we should all talk about this some more.
I hope not. I would think most of us (certainly including the principles
in the recent charges) have had enough of this thread. Ethics charges
are easy to make, ill defined, and hard to refute. If someone says your
ethics suck, basically all you can do is say that "no they don't." And
the charges remain out there, poisoning the atmosphere, whether true or
not.
You may decide to buy or not buy things for a variety of reasons, but if
you want to take Brian literally, perhaps you should seek out Mother
Theresa's "Guide to Video Poker." I have no evidence that she was ever
IN a casino, let alone wrote about it, but her integrity is unquestioned
--- which seems to be the criteria here.
A better criteria, I suggest, is "Does this person have expertise in the
subject, something original to say, and does he/she present it in a way
I can understand?" That's what's important. Buying books because you
like the author is pretty silly. Avoiding getting an inexpensive product
that can likely make you thousands of dollars because you heard
something questionable about the author that may or may not be true (and
you'll never know for sure), is also shortsighted.
