Larry,

I may be in a slim minority in my stand here, but I think this letter
would best have been handled privately. INvHO, posts should inform or
at the very least express an opinion for discussion.

The reply to this letter may prove to be of general interest, but I'd
suggest conducting the correspondence (and any follow-ups) privately
and, if appropriate, posting (singly or jointly) relevent details that
would be of general interest.

Greetings from Las Vegas, Home of the Monthly vpFREE Lunch :

From "vpFREE Rules and Policies" :

"Members are expected to practice good manners and show good taste in posts
to vpFREE. Personal attacks and disruptive behavior will not be tolerated."

Negative, judgmental personal comments based on hearsay are inappropriate
on vpFREE.

Wait a minute. If true, it's a pretty serious ethical breach (and
*not* by Larry or other manufacturers, who would be blameless). What
would you think of restaurant reviewers who only visited joints that
comped their meals? How might that affect their opinions? Extortion
isn't too strong a word.

     If true.

On vpFREE :

It's OK to discuss the ethics of VP Payola.

It's OK to ask if VP Payola exists.

It's OK to prove that VP Payola exists.

It's NOT OK to name names, based on hearsay.
