Bizarre Sequence

Okay, just to lighten things up, I am posting a bizarre sequence from
tonight's micro session at the Suncoast. I was basically taking a
break from blackjack and craps, so I stuck a twenty into a quarter 9/6
DDB machine. I think I lost the first 6 or 7 hands, then was dealt
Four to the Royal and didn't connect. The next hand was a flush that
included Four to the Royal; I broke it up and didn't even end up with
a flush. The next hand, the machine dealt 4 Aces with a 7; I tossed
the 7 and drew a 6; still good for 800 quarters. Normally, I would
cash out, but I hit Deal and was dealt 2-4-4-4-2. Tossed the 2s and
drew 4-2 for another 800 quarters.

Now I know it's all random, and I really want to believe that, but I
can't recall ever getting back to back 4TTR's, let alone back to back
quads. I am already thinking it will never happen again.

There is hope for a repeat, partial atleast!

The odds (approximate) of being deatl a 4 of Kind is approx. 4,000 to
1, hence back to back dealt 4OKs around 16,000,000 to one...not great
odds, BUT 4OKs occur roughly every 400 hands so back to back 4OKS
happen roughly every 160,000 hands not great odds...but I bet you will
see that again. The 4ttrs occur approx. every 14,000 hands so back to
back are long odds indeed (approx 200 million to one) but the odds on
all these events gets much better when you loosen up the back to back
requirement and allow for a short gaps between quads and 4TTRs. Its
always fun to throw in some talk about the right side of the curve
since we tend to, rightly I believe, focus mainly on the left side of
the curve.

Hi Charles,

I'm glad you "lightened things up" with such a GOOD tale!
Congratulations ! May you have many more sessions as good
as this one.

I do think, however, that there's a chance for you you to re-live
this rare occurence.

Two years ago, at the EC, I had been pounding away at my favorite
old coin-dropper 10/7DB for over an hour w/o much success. The 1st
hand, after I had inserted the 2nd Bennie of the session, I was
dealt quad Jacks. I hit deal again and looked at 3 Aces. On the
draw the 4th lovely Ace popped up. Sensing an extreme turnaround in
the curve, I hit deal once again and was DEALT 4 ACES! Things slowed
down a bit after that, but I finally cashed out $500 in the black at
the end of my play.

I'm sure that the odds are many millions to one against this
wonderful but extremely abberant happening. But, on the day that it
did happen to me, I was too pleased and excited to even think about
about how rare this kind of event might be.

I'm glad that you had the same kind of heart thumping joy I received.
Thanks for sharing!

Babe

It happens. I've hit back to back quads. I've hit back to back SFs. I
don't recall if I've hit 4TTR back to back, but I may have... Play enough
hands of vp and the incredibly improbable happens.
