I got the same, a choice of either the bag or a vase. Neither one has
any value to me, nor did any of the other gifts. I think these gifts
should have a negative value. I think based on non-bday gifts, this was

My host sent me a note saying she was sorry for missing my bithday and
that she would be sending me more info regarding the present shortly.
That was back in May. I haven't heard from her about or bothered
asking. I figured that it probably wasn't worth anything anyway/
