Binions

I believe Main Street several years ago had 9/6 JB with a 450 st fl payoff. Are their many
strategy changes for this pay schedule?

These are $.25 games. It takes $20 coin-in to earn one
point. The best two games are FPDW and Joker Poker Kings
with a 4000 coin royal. Other games are 10/7 DB, 10/6 DDB
and 9/6 Jacks.

I was downtown today and looked at some of the new improvements at Binion's.

The 9/6 JoB on the four good payback machines pays 90 instead of 50 for the straight flush. These machines also have 8/5 Bonus Poker that pays 35 for all quads.

The first ones I thought of would be the following close plays in normal JoB:

'JT'with flush penalty > KJ
'QT'with flush penalty > AQ

I'm sure there's more. I've never played the game with a 450 SF before and have never given it any thought. Sounds like it would be fun. And about a half percent more 'fun' too

Unfortunately, yes. The Bonus 90/9/6 JoB pays 99.996%, vs. the 99.54% of the "full pay" 50/9/6/. I was just in the process of working this strategy out using Video Poker for Winners, in anticipation of a visit to South Point, where they have this game (in addition to at Binion's). Using that software, the standard JoB generates 34 different rules in its playing strategy, but the Bonus version generates 44. As you might imagine, all hands involving 3 or 4 to the straight flush are higher in priority than usual, and worse yet they are not easily categorized. Using the common terminology of 3SF+/-n (3 to a SF, where N is the number of high cards minus the number of gaps), the rules don't categorize easily. For example, some 3SF+1 are higher than others, depending on the specific cards. The 3SF+1 consisting of JT9 is worth more than a low pair, but the 3SF+1 consisting of QJ9 is worth less. 4SF rules are also more complex. If you can remember all these rules to squeeze out that little bonus in the payout, go for it. (And if you don't play by the exact strategy, your long-term payout will not be 99.996.)

Seems to me I found a machine or two of this schedule the last time I stopped by the Western at 3:00 a.m., maybe a year ago. I don't know that that information is particularly helpful to anyone, but I just thought I'd add that. They were coin-droppers, I believe, for 25-cents.

I think they were near the door for valet parking. (ha, just kidding)

The same strategy that gets you 99.54% from 50/9/6 JOB will get you 99.98% on 90/9/6 JOB. All the strategy changes that you found will get you just 0.015% additional return. On a 25c game at 600 hands an hour, you would gain an additional 11 cents/hr from the strategy changes.
