I know Linda is writing this in the context of cruise ships, but in
casinos I was under the impression that Bingo was kind of a loss leader.
While I know that casinos make money on Bingo (I saw the annual casino
breakdown for various games somewhere) I thought the hold percentage was
relatively low and it's main focus was to get patrons into the casino to
play other games.

Why I'm curious on this topic, is because I had thought Bingo might be a
good way to use some excess Station comp dollars to generate some
cashback. Arizona Charlies and Fiestas are other casinos where I believe
you can use comps for Bingo.

Well, we did generate over $1,800 in winnings over that period playing

For most bingo games its not possible to compute the house edge as is
done for roulette, craps, and video poker. There are too many
variables. The number of people playing is probably the most
important of these ... the fewer there are, the better the odds of
winning. But in most bingo sessions there are usually one or two
games where the odds CAN be computed, and they are extremely bad.
These are the games where you must get a bingo within a certain
number of balls drawn. The Jumbo Jackpot at Stations is one of these.

By "extremely bad" I'm referring to an individual player. From the
casinos viewpoint they may pay back 90% +/- of the money collected,
but only to one person (the winner). Those games are similar to
Megabucks and The Wheel of Fortune.

In a general sense I doubt bingo is a loss leader. Many Indian
casinos started with bingo and grew from there, so they must have
made a lot. I played bingo at Fantasy Spings in Indio on
Saturday. The crowd was huge, and it was expensive to play. I think
most casinos make a lot on bingo, mainly because so many people like
to play.

easy chair, laptop in my lap, playing BDWP, while my eyes
were closed, and I was dozing. The most amazing thing to him
was that, apparently, I wasn't making mistakes. The "warn"
option was on, and it wasn't beeping or stopping my draws. I
guess it just proves that I've played so much, that I can
actually play in my sleep!
