Biloxi vs. Tunica ?

I might take an opportunity within the next month or so to make a short
trip to either Biloxi or Tunica. Does one place have better VP than the
other? I know that Tunica has easier comps - but if the VP sucks, then
what good are they?

Thanks,

Jeff

The VP on the coast is far better than the VP in Tunica. Check the
database and you'll see.

comps. More casinos to choose from too, plus close to Memphis for

Well, it looks like we have a 1 to 1 tie so far  Let me elaborate
on the above points - not so much to argue with kaz14606 but to
provide more information for the benefit of the poster of the
original question.

Tunica all the way ...good VP at most casinos<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Sorry, but I have to disagree. VP games in Tunica pretty much top
out at 9/6 JOB, with very, very few exceptions. 9/6 JOB is only the
starting point for good VP games on the coast. (Note: If the
question was about blackjack instead, I'd vote for Tunica.)

looser slots<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

I'll have to take your word on this one.

easy comps<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Tunica is well known for easy comps, so I agree that the edge goes to
Tunica in this category.

More casinos to choose from too<<<<<<<<<<<<

I disagree on this point. 11 casinos in the Biloxi / Gulfport area +
one in Bay St. Louis compared to 9 casinos in Tunica. While the
casinos on the coast are a little more spread out than those in
Tunica, from a practical standpoint you really need a car for either
area.

plus close to Memphis for other attractions<<<<<<<<<<<<

The coast has New Orleans 1 to 1.5 hours away. Comes down to
personal preference. There are certainly plenty of attractions
directly on the coast also, i.e. beaches, golf, boat trip to Ship
Island, fishing, etc. Tunica has ..... cotton fields! (OK, I have
to admit that Tunica also has a few golf courses, but not much else
besides the casinos.)

Having visited Tunica twice, and Gulfport thrice, I wouldn't hesitate
to recommend the latter;

- fullpay $.25 video poker (DW, DB, JW, JB, AA).

- easy comps at the Copa (they comp'd my room on 2-3k/day play).

- OK comps at Magic Bay St. Louis (4-5k/day for room).

- tougher comps at The Grand Gulfport.

GREAT golf - 30 to 40 courses at very reasonable prices.

26 miles of beach, Stennis space centre, deep sea fishing.

Being retired with a RV, we hit both of these fine gambling areas
each winter for a few weeks. As stated earlier, both have their good
points and bad points. We found comps easy in both. This past Jan we
spent a week at the Hollywood RV park -- comped as well as most of our
meals. Harrah's is next door so we walked there for a couple meals
using our Harrah's points or food in the Diamond lounge. We had a
great time further enhanced by me hitting a Royal right off the bat.
The Hollywood has a few full pay JOB but not much else. Harrah's has
several full pay machines but our best luck was at the Hollywood.

From there we moved to Casino Magic at Bay St Louis and stayed in
their RV park -- again comped. We really like this place, the RV park
is first class, nice grounds, easy comps, great buffet, etc. They
even have a pond for our dog to go swimming (Lab). Little green
shuttle buses continually circulate around the grounds, parking lot,
RV park, etc. to take you to/from the casino. They even go by the dry
campers living in a corner of their parking lot. Lucky Lucy hit a
Royal at Casino Magic which made this casino a great stop.

We also hit the President and Treasure Bay but by then Lady Luck had
departed our gaming efforts. In years past we loved to stay at the
President. Their parking lot is built on a land fill in the Gulf of
Mexico and we could park a few feet from the water. But the Biloxi
city fathers banned overnight parking so we have to go across the
street to their hotel area, still a great place to dry camp.

The time of year we visit these areas (winter), Biloxi/Gulfport gets
the nod. The weather is better, crawfish is in season, there's more
to see and do other than gamble. The crowds have not yet hit the
beaches and tourist traps. However, both areas will be very
uncomfortable in the summer.
