Since Michigan whomps off their income tax take for all W2G wins with no loss
write-offs, knocking that SF payoff to $1000 from $1250 (thus eliminating the
W2G) isn't quite as bad as it looks. Also, for the average player who isn't
savvy enough to keep a gambling tax diary, eliminating Uncle Sam's share
pretty much makes up the rest.
That is, IF you don't claim every gambling win on your taxes.
