Best place to try Off-Strip

I am heading to LV on Friday with a friend who loves 10/7 DB. We'll
be staying at Paris and Caesars but obviously won't be gambling much
at either of those places, especially VP. There are a lot of casinos
downtown and Off-Strip that offer 10/7 DB as well as other full pay
games that I'm looking for like MS or STP Jacks/BP.

So - given that I probably won't be getting free rooms from Harrahs
much longer, where should I try to start earning them? I can read
the database and find the games but I would appreciate
recommendations factoring in how easy it is to earn room/food comps
and also more importantly how nice the various properties are. I've
never stayed anywhere but the Strip and have only visited a handful
of properties Off-Strip other than downtown which hasn't impressed
me. I'll play mostly quarters at least for the high-variance games
but go up to dollars for Jacks and I'll also play some table games
(mostly at table minimums - $5 or $10). I prefer earning comps &
offers just by using my card (a la Harrahs) as opposed to having to
ask for discretionary comps. Hopefully that is enough information
for someone to help make some recommendations.

Thanks in advance!

Steve

The best place is the Palms. Tons of 10/7 DB. Comps are earned 1
point for every $1 played. $1 in comps for every 400 points. Host
are very nice. Tons of great VP to play!!

That's one of the places I actually have played off-Strip. I like it
OK but I've never gotten any kind of offer from them (granted with not
a lot of play either). How much would it take to get a free room there?

Also if anyone knows - are there really only 3 casinos with full-pay
Super Times Pay in Las Vegas? El Cortez, Fremont & Gold Coast are the
only ones that show it on the Vegas directory page...

Hello!

Like many of you here, I am considering the effects of my moving away from Harrah's
when my present Diamond status and many offers evaporate for lack of my playing
"trashed-out" pay tables there.

Looking at the vpFREE data-base entries for the Palms, i.e.,

$1 Coin-In = 1 Point
Cashback = None
Bounce Back Cash: Yes
Earned Comps: 400 points = $1 (0.25%)
Discretionary Comps: Yes
Points Expire after 12 mos inactivity

I have several questions ...

Does the Palms "Bounce Back Cash" work like Harrah's "The Check is in the Mail"? This is
important if one is a "non-local". Harrah's gives you many, months to use the "Check is in
the Mail" and there is little risk of losing it as long as you visit LV every few months.

Do you get rooms and food in exchange for your "points" at the Palms the same as you do
with Harrah's Reward Points, or do you have to rely on a "host" and "Discretionary Comps"
for meals and lodging?

Are there various "levels" in the Palms system, like the Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and 7-
stars at Harrah's?

Are their "extra" points that you may earn, like Harrah's "Reward Points", above and
beyond the regular "Tier" Points?

Is there a "Diamond Lounge" equivalent at the Palms?

Thanks for whatever infromation anyone might be able to provide.

Ok, heres the scoop

Points earned at the palms can be used for food, room or shopping.
(There is not that many stores open at the palms, maybe 3)

No checks are sent out that I know of (I don't live in vegas)

There are different levels of players, but I really don't worry
about them that much. Since I only go one to 2 times a year. I do
get some very nice offers from them. My last offer was 2 nights,
one dinner at their french resturant and $100 in free slot (vp) play.

No diamond lounge in the Palms.

The rooms however are very nice and I have to admit they have the
most comfortable beds I have ever been on!! I normally don't sleep
much in vegas, but I just sit on their bed and I am out!!

Give the palms a try and let me know what you think.

I have found that any of the Coast casinos (Orleans and SouthCoast in particular) have
been generous with free room offers recently. Orleans sends me regularly an up to 3 night
offer,$50.00 food credit and up to $100.00 free play credit and I have played there maybe
an afternoon once in a while when I visit Vegas. The SouthCoast does not send offers but if
you get in touch with a host there they are very good to the .25c player normally comping
their room and food.

The Palms sends the odd offer, too but usually for a narrow selection of available dates,no
food and maybe $50-75.00 free play spread accross 2-3 nights ($25.00 a day).

Cheers,

MO

Palms is an okay place to play but the the part about the hosts being
nice has to be a joke. Place is over-rated and their heads are a
little swollen.

Szelisk -

Where do I send the check for the plug for the Palms?

Actually, maybe George Maloof will send you a check.
His cash flow is a little better than mine.
