Best place to play in short -term

Hi all,

I am a twice a year vacationer to Vegas, usually spend about 12 days
there in all. I have played VP for many years and would say that I have
the Deuces Wild game down pat, but still prone to make errors on other
variations. Given the restricted number of hours I have to play, does
it actually make any difference if I play $1 98 percent double double
bonus on the Strip (for the thrill!) or should I still look to grind it
out at 25c Deuces Wild in one of the locals places where full pay is
available?

Like you, I spend maybe 12 to 16 days a year in Vegas (in 3-4 day segments) and am a
dedicated recreational player. I usually get free offers at strip properties where I stay but I
also play at off-strip ones that have FP where the offers are rarer. For instance Red Rock
has yet to ever send me any kind of offer in spite of having played there consistently since
they opened. The irony is that I have done very well on some shortpay VP in the host
properties I have stayed at and NOT gotten anything by going where the full pay fly, and
conversely on many other occasions the reverse has been true. Last April I stayed at the
Mirage and got a Royal and the Aces and kicker at DDB which was shortpay (I posted
photos). I spent a day at the Palms playing FP games the day before and didn't get diddly.
At a previous trip in January I stayed at Caesars, I played and won nothing until on my last
day I went to the Red Rock where I got a Royal that covered what I had rendered to
Caesar. I guess I balance out both by playing FP two thirds of the time and SP where I am
staying the remaining third or just enough to keep those offers coming. This at least
works for me and keeps me happy.

This is a matter of personal preference. The station casinos offer
full pay DB and DDB at the $1 level so you don't have to play .25 FPDW
at these places. I view this as the same decision process you would
face when deciding to play full pay blackjack vs. 6:5 blackjack.
Playing for comps at a place you love "might" justify the short pay but
IMHO I would rather stay for free at 2nd tier casinos that offer better
games.

MO: Your problem is not what you play but where you
play it. There are many Las Vegas Casinos that do not
mail to Canada. The majority of Strip casinos do. The
majority of the rest do not. If you play at a Casino
that does not send you mail and you really like the
place, your only option is to speak to a Casino Host.
