Best games $1 and under at Caesars, AC
There is still a bank of upright 9/6 jacks just outside the men's room
by the elevators to the restaurants. It's .25/.50/1.00. I was there
last Sunday and only one other person was on this bank. The one next
to it was packed with people mostly playing 6/5 jacks.

Thanks for the lnks, but I would like the latest scoop from someone
who played there recently. Some of the information is dated, and te
casino people keep changing and dropping machines.

Really? Players abandoned that bank a couple of years ago in droves
when the meter was slowed to a fraction of that. I haven't kept
abreast of those machines, but when I happen to pass by the meter
seems hold at a value well under the average $1200-$1300 that would
suggest.

Where exactly is this located?
Is this the same machine referred to in another post as "There is
still a bank of upright 9/6 jacks just outside the men's room

In the VP Links, under Caesar's three names of "Video Poker Hosts" ae
listed. Cris Dupuis, Dianne oover, and Kevin Kozarski. What exactly
is a Video Poker Host? Would they be helpful with information about
the "best" machines?

A host's mission is to cultivate player loyalty -- with an aim to
increase play volume. The stronger your perceived play capacity, the
more attention you're likely to garner.
When I was putting through $30K-$40K coin-in per night's stay at
Caesars AC, I found my host pretty useless. I'll note that while your
mileage may vary, at significantly lower play volume I've found host
contact downright insulting at times. Even with reasonably strong
play, I once had a host at MGM-LV whose conduct in response to my
$35K/night left me desiring to give her a swift kick in the rear.

------
Forget about any information on machines and other play factors from a
host. They're clueless with damned few exceptions. There is the
occasional host who's spent a little time dabbling at the vp machines
and can be conversant. But even in that case, don't look for any hard
intelligence.
Frankly, your best bet with any host is to take on a guise of being
entirely clueless yourself.
The best avenue to casino intelligence is to cultivate relationships
with other players, both in the casino and via groups like this.
Demonstrating strong discretion and judgement are key, as well as
showing that you'll receive information with a respect for the source.
Openly disregard information, suggest that you know better when info
is shared, or blow off advice and you can kiss off any opportunity at
gleaning further info.

Harry, with all due respect, $35K a night at MGM will barely get you a
room, unles you're playing Double Diamond or Cleopatra. Theo on the
9-6 Jacks at MGM Mirage properties is very small.

No need for respect, my experience attests to that (well, I scored
$200 free play offers for future visits). My anecdote was actually
from something like 3 years ago -- compounding the situation is that I
was playing NSUD
With respect to my host, she really scored big time on our first
meeting. After an introductory lunch upon our arrival (in advance of
any play), she was ignorant as to how to pick up the tab. (Ok, she
was a transferree from Caesars the prior month.) She managed to solve
her problem by charging lunch for the 3 of us to my comp account.

Comps on the 25c 9/6 JOB at Caesars AC were very tight when we went
for a day trip two weeks ago. $5k coin-in produced less than $8 comp
and a whopping $11 cashback. The same play at Harrah's would yield
about $15 comp and around $25 CB +/-. At Showboat, you'd be looking
at $12 comp and $18 CB +/-.
(Of course, YMMV.)

The 25 cent 9/6 JOB bank with the progressive are slant tops located
near the escalator, the craps tables and a tobacco stand located under
the escalator.

I don't know what machines you chose for play, but bear in mind that
it's likely that cb/comps are likely to be considerably tighter on the
progressive quarter bank than the non-progressive machines.
If these were for non-progressive play, I would be surprised but far
from stunned.

Now that all of these Harrahs properties work with one player card
(Total Rewards), why the difference between Harrahs, Showboat, Caesars
and Ballys? Does it reflect the quality of their amenities?
I have played only at Harrahs and Showboat, which were already
integrated before the Caesars & Ballys merger into Harrahs. But my
most recent hotel room offer was applicable at any of the four
casinos. And I would be considered, by the standards of how much
people here play, a very low roller.
I am going to be at Caesars the first week of September. Will let you
know what my experience is.

I don't think so, otherwise look for the games at Caesar's LV to go
down the toilet soon, as HET considers Caesar's to be their "A" level
hotel in LV, with Rio/Harrah's to be "B" level.
I think the slot/casino executives still have a fair level of autonomy
within the HET system to set pays and reward points. I don't know
anyone who works on the very very inside, but I would not be surprised
if the individual casinos "pay" HET (or the TR arm of HET) for TR
points earned on their games, and HET "pays" the casinos for comp room
nights and entries to the Diamond Lounges, stuff like that. Then the
casinos report their individual p/l statements to corporate. That
would explain why room comps are so easy and everything else is so hard
(I'm talking about the individual casinos, as opposed to dealing with
the promotions/TR groups).

This makes air line pricing seem simpler!

It's the only system I can come up with that explains everything I've
experienced myself and read about on the boards. The casino, hotel,
TR, promotion/marketing, HET corporate----all separate entities with
their own rears to worry about. This is true of other casinos, but
HET is so huge and has this down to a science (at least to them).
For example, look at the Diamond lounges. Some are nice, some not,
some have all sorts of drinks, some not, some have computers that
work, some don't, etc. Some (AC) want to charge $10 for a third
person, or whatever. Some casinos shut down the lounges altogether.
How can one make sense of all this, if HET is just one big company?
Because it's not. It's a whole bunch of smaller companies. It's
complete speculation, but my guess is that the casinos bear the cost
of running the Diamond Lounges, and then Total Rewards pays the
casino for each member who enters (oh, say, $10 sounds right).
OK, so if you're the casino exec, your Diamond Lounge is a little
business, a little profit center. And you compete with the other
Diamond Lounges for business, and you're trying to balance the
amenities with the customer traffic---i.e., your revenue, $10 per
head. A high-traffic place like Caesar's can afford hot meals,
breakfast and dinner, nice bar, open 14 hrs a day, etc. They still
MAKE money (from TR). Bally's can't and decides to shut down. Then
TR notifies the casinos that they are only going to pay $10 for the
member and up to ONE guest only. So then your favorite Diamond
Lounge charges YOU the $10 to bring the second guest. Makes sense
now.
This makes air line pricing seem simpler!

I made sure to stay away from the progressive 9/6 JOB's since I knew
the comps were tight pre-Harrah's. The machines we were on were not
the progressives. They were by the elevator that goes up to the
gourmet restaurants.
