Best Deuces Wild in Reno?

I was thinking of bringing my wife up to Reno in the next few days to
try out video poker. Been going to the Thunder Valley and finally
convinced her (I think) to give Reno a try.

Anyway, I was targetting Atlantis (we like to play Deuces Wild) but
based on the database sheet it looks like its primarily NSUD.

I noticed Peppermill has FPDW in the database. So who has the best DW
in Reno? IN-laws in town and was hoping to find a good DW game plus
looser slots for them and supposedly Atlantis has good selection of
both.

Appreciate any input. Figure I've only got one chance to sell her on
Reno or its back to TV and the 96.8% payouts.

Thanks.

Silver Legacy has two banks of FPDW progressives, and another bank of FPDW upstairs. I think your wife will lie SL - a very nice casino with a great hotel. Another advantage is it is hooked to the Eldorado and Circus Circus so there is no need to go outside to visit them. If you do venture out, downtown is not very big and you can walk to any other hotel on the area. not so with Atlantis and Pepp as they are quite a way from town.

Let me know if you have any other questions on the SL - we were there just a few weeks ago.

I agree SL is a very nice casino & hotel. Their .25 FPDW Progs are
the highest DW EV in Reno, very fast, TITO and there are 14 machines
in two separate banks on the main floor (south end near women's
restroom). Another bank of 6 without the Prog is upstairs in an
alcove across from Sterling Steakhouse.

A slight negative, which may or may not be important to you, is that
these are all uprights at SL. They are uncomfortable to play for
more than an hour at a time. Most of the other SL full-pay games
listed in the database are slant tops and many have become TITO
since my last visit.

The Peppermill FPDW are just as fast and all slant tops. Not prog
royals. All machines in Pepps are TITO. There are 6 PFDW just
outside the Fireside lounge in a little alcove. You can play up to
10 coins on FPDW, making them .25/.50 machines. I don't know the
exact machine count on the other FPDW, but they are just outside
Oceano restaurant, just inside the exit doors to the parking lot.
Slant tops, up to 10 coins and a higher ceiling (better air
circulation) than the six near Fireside.

Rooms at Pepps are very nice, but I'd probably give the nod to SL,
just personal preference: they are quite comparable on size and low
noise levels.

I can't compare SLOTs, that's for sure.

To help you succeed in your sales pitch for Reno, you probably have
to take into account each casino's environment. Little things like
the music they play, the voices on the PA system, the volume on the
nearby annoying slots, these things add up. They each have their
own "flavor". Generally, SL is a little more "muted" and regal;
Pepps is more "hip", colorful and entertaining and a little more
chaotic. These are the two places I play at about 25 days/year.
Service is great at both. Slight nod to Pepps for restaurants.
You'll have to judge the intangibles for yourself and your family.

If you like to sit side-by-side with the wife or in-laws, you'd have
more success at SL (4 x 4, 3 x 3 and 6 in a row upstairs; plus more
open machines generally). Pepps is a tad more crowded, and the DW
machines are in groups of 3 x 3, back-to-back.

I think it would behoove you to give each place at least one solid
day's play on your trip. Pick one to stay at and take a day-trip to
the other. About 3 miles away on Virginia St. Compare for yourself.
The DW game itself won't disappoint you either place, I think it's
the intangibles that will sway "SWMBO". Good luck!

From what I know of Atlantis, I think it doesn't compete on DW.
There are more multi-lines at Atlantis is my impression.

I would like to thank everyone who has provided feedback. It has
given me a lot more input than I even expected. At first I thought
my destination would be Atlantis. However, your postings and my
digging back thru the database (and prior postings) has shown me that
Atlantis has a lot of good games but FPDW is not one of them. SL and
Peppermill both have things to consider and it looks like thats where
I should concentrate my attention. Perhaps I'll try Atlantis when I
branch out into other VP games. If we do get to Reno this week as I
expect I'll let everyone know how it turned out.

Thanks again.

I'll add my 2 cents regarding the PepperMill. It's the only place I know of , that has a TV channel in your room with the
main stage as a feature. If the band is really good ( most of them are at the PepperMill ) and you go to bed before 4AM , which is when they usually quit, you can watch them in your room - its fun- and you never know who you'll spot near the band.

best wishes...Tom
