Belterra

A couple of months ago I read in the WSJ that the Mid West casinos were withstanding the economic downturn much better than Vegas and AC. Apparently some of the casinos in the heartland are now feeling the pinch. For several years we went bi-weekly to Belterra in Indiana, and were given the normal comps -- rooms, meals, show-tickets. However, about a year and a half ago, when they drastically downgraded their VP, we stopped going. We continued to receive monthly notices from them, but within the past month or so the mailings have revved up, and yesterday, for the first time, we received a recorded call reminding us to take advantage of our free room offerings for April. If they had maintained their limited number of reasonably paying VP machines, they would still be suffering from the downturn, but several hundred, at a minimum, regular customers would probably still be regulars at Belterra, rather than frequent flyers of Southwest,or road trippers to Tunica.
