bay area casinos

We're going to the bay area next month. I was wondering if there are
any casinos up their besides Harras at Reno or Tahoe. Anything within
1 to 2 hour drive? It looks like the bulk of the casinos are in
southern California

Where are you going to be in the Bay Area? You may be able to get to
Thunder Valley or Cache Creek in 2 hours from San Francisco, but you'll need
to add another hour from San Jose or even longer from points further South.
In addition to the 2 casinos already mentioned, there is Jackson Rancheria,
Black Oak casino, and the Chicken Ranch. Jackson is probably the place
you'll find the best VP, but it's about 30 minutes longer to get there.
Black Oak is a nice casino, but a VP wasteland (although I did hit me first
Royal there). It's in Sonora, close to Yosemite and the High Sierra, if you
are planning any side trips to those areas. Thunder Valley is a nice
casino, but horrible gaming. Cache Creek is in beautiful country and your
standard Indian casino. I've never been to Chicken Ranch, but from what
I've heard it's a real dump. Check out the California database for more
info.

Ditto, specifics probably shouldn't be discussed.

Thunder Valley is a nice casino, but horrible gaming.

Given the current market, and compared to Harrahs, they are no longer
all that bad. They have 8/5 Bonus and 9/6 Double-Double Bonus and you
can use your comp for freeplay (0.2% of coin-in, double the standard
Harrah's rate). If you do some scouting around you might even find
some better games or promos.

Red Hawk Casino opens soon on US 50:
