Bartop Versus Floor VP

On my last stay in Vegas a couple of weeks ago, I stayed at Bally's and
noticed their VP selection was weak and poor. Since I was alone and on
business, I decided to play at the bars where I could at least talk to
the people around me and the bartender. Much to my surprise, it was
one of my better trips in a while and all of my bigger wins were at the
bars at Bally's or Gustav's Bar at Paris. When I ventured to the
machines on the floor, I had horrible luck at both Bally's and Paris
and they just took my money. Typically I have always shied away from
bartop machines because I believed they were tighter, but this trip I
actually for once brought home a couple hundred dollars more than I
came with thanks to the bartop machines.

I am curious in knowing if anyone would choose to play the bartop
machines assuming the pay tables are the same as the machines on the
floor (like Bally's/Paris) or did I just hit a good streak over three
nights?

You just hit a good streak. If the paytables are the same, then by
definition, one machine cannot be "looser" ot "tighter".

I always play at the bar when possible - if the game is decent. As noted, the game doesn't know where it is installed - it's the paytable that matters. What also matters to me is having a beer more than once an hour - so I pick the bar when possible.

We play the bartops in the main highlimit area at Red Rock and find them to be very productive. They are, however, no more productive than other machines located elsewhere with the same pay tables. The bartop has tall/high chairs that are not has comfortable has the soft adjustable VP bank chairs and the video screens are smaller and not as easy to see.

So why do we play them? The service from the bartender is impeccable, the conversation is very informing, the entire bartop is sqeaky clean (sorry, no sticky buttons) but mainly we play them because the paytables are good and we are just making our rounds hoping for a big one! Kathy says she plays the Red Rock bartops because she has chosen it as her relaxing/happy place to unwind and hopefully hit something totally unexpected....while we would like to have mixed drinks, we still just stick to soda because the chairs are too high up....now if they were to install seatbelts.......
