Bartop games at Station casinos

A little off topic but it happened at Texas Station. I was to meet Shirl and
Stan for dinner tonight (we did get together and they're delightful people;
I'm so glad they're moving here). I sat at one of the FPDW machines near the
north entrance and had, for the first time in my relatively short VP career,
two Royals within about an hour and a half of each other on the same machine.
Both spades.

Funny, I didn't realize for a moment that I'd hit. When I draw to a Royal, I
close my eyes and figure I'll hear the machine making noise to let me know if
I hit. Well, I heard a tiny ping and nothing else - thought it was from some
other machine until I opened my eyes and saw that precious spade ace the
first time. Second time I kept my eyes open, convinced it couldn't happen
again and there was the ten of spades big as life.

Allison's Law
A Royal is ALWAYS a surprise!!

Karen,
About 2 days ago, I sat next to a lady at Texas who seemed to know what she
was doing at the slant-top FPDW. She was there again tonight. Her slot
card reader said her name was Karen. I asked her if she was Karen Allison,
but she said no. Well, if it's actually you, say hi to us -- we're Steve
and John. We've been playing next to you almost every night this week. How
many Karens can there be?

Well, for instance it could have been my wife Karen, though the only
VP she's been playing in the last 2 days was at Beano's Casino (less
than full play, but a nice place).
