Barring Singer

Hi Everyone:

I have always been a little disturbed by the barring of Rob Singer
from these groups. In my opinion, it would be morally wrong and not
in keeping with the wonderful collegial spirit of casino gamblers and
VP players to bar the guy simply because he espouses a theory that
most of us do not agree with. If he wants to give trip reports or
tell us about experiences he has had, why not let him.

On the other hand, I have no problem with barring someone who is an
idiot. People who flame or use ridicule others or use disrepectful
language in their posts have no place in these groups.

If that's why we are barring him, I'm okay with it. But this is the
first that I have heard of that kind of thing. In Skip's group you
aren't even allowed to mention Singer's name. That's just not right.

If we're going to bar him, let's do it for the right reason.

Let's clarify. Skip's group has gone through a number of very annoying and disruptive threads. If they started up again they would not provide additional information, they would merely repeat the problems of the past. It is not just RS that shouldn't be mentioned, smoking in casinos and other unproductive threads are also strictly discouraged.

I understand why Tom doesn't want to restrict this group like that but at times I wish.............

Is it too late to change my vote about full moderation of the group?

It was pointed out to me that I unintentionally gave the impression that
his name is not to be mentioned on Skip's site. Of course you can mention
him but I was trying to point out that unproductive threads are discouraged
because they've played themselves out in the past. How many times can you
critique RS?

I apologize if I gave a false impression that Skip in any way restricts the
group because he doesn't like the topic. He will let threads run for a
while but if someone starts making personal attacks or the topic gets too
far afield he cuts it off and / or moderates the offender. But he is a firm
defender of free speech and the free expression of ideas, even unpopular ones.
