Last night I saw the television show Bar Rescue for the first time. Actually, I wasn't looking for it but stumbled upon it while switching channels. I stopped there and watched about three episodes, and I enjoyed it, even though I don't normally care for "reality shows". Anyway, the reason I mention this is because there was a piece in the Las Vegas Advisor about this show, and apparently they are going to do an episode on a bar in Vegas. I think it was called the Sand Dollar and is now going to be the 702 Bar, or something like that. That's why I even stopped on it while I was flipping channels. I'm not sure when the Vegas show is going to broadcast, but they asked Anthony Curtis for advise as far as video poker. You know how most bars have really crappy video poker in Vegas, but the Las Vegas Advisor article said that they would have games like 9-7 Double Bonus and in a couple spots it would be 10-7 Double Bonus and advertise it up for the fact that it is 100%. I'm really looking forward to watching it when it airs. As I was watching the show last night and seeing how stubborn the bar owners were it made me think that that must be a situation in Vegas also, because in my opinion having video poker with crappy pay schedules AND not even a progressive, is pretty stupid. Very near-sighted! Maybe if this show is a hit and it turns the 702 Bar around, maybe it could catch on elsewhere in Vegas.
Bar Rescue
Yes , great show! , I've been following it for a while, seems to be at least 40 episodes so far. You can walk into the Sand Dollar/702 bar now ( its in a crap neighborhood i.e. Spring Mountain and Polaris ) and see if its all still good. I checked Yelp and some other sites on follow up to Jon Taffers' other makeovers , and its fair to say that 50% of the places , chuck all his advice after 3 months, and go back to the original ways. The show is not really clear on who pays for the bar makeover cost, which in my estimate runs from $10,000 to $50,000. I suspect that a lot of these folks are only doing it for the makeover !
best...Tom

Oh, I didn't know there were already 40 episodes, I thought it was something new. The first one I watched last night was with the Canyon Inn in Yorba Linda, Calif. What a JERK that bar owner was! Such a big ego. I'm sitting here yelling at the tv, "screw him, let him go bankrupt, friggin jerk!" lol
Has the episode actually aired yet involving the 702 Bar? I did find a website the other day, seemed to be a work in progress. I'm going to be in Vegas, hopefully, in about three weeks, I will definitely stop by the 702 Bar. And Anthony Curtis said there will be a progressive coming. I hope they do great and maybe other bars will catch on.
On my last trip to Vegas I was somewhere over on the westside and I saw a bar in the corner of a parking lot. There were banners and signs about "grand opening, hot video poker, best video poker in town", or something like that. I went inside, and it was a bunch of 6-5 Bonus Poker crap, without even a progressive. GTFO! CLUELESS! What a joke. What a bad joke. I left.

Ok, I went back and read the Las Vegas Advisor, and it says to keep watching the "Today's News" section of their website for announcement of when the show will air.
It also says there is 9-6 JoB, 15-8 LDW, and 13-4 BDW at 98.80.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the show.
