bankroll

This is REALLY scary for anyone carrying a gambling bankroll!

A few months ago, on the way to Reno, I was subjected to a " full body Scan".

Here is a short excerpt from that TR about the experience:

"I arrived at the O'Hare American Airlines "Preferred" Security Line, in plenty of time for my 9:50am flight to Reno.

For the first time since the new nusiance "full body scan" x-ray system was implemented, I was selected to be the "profiled" victim. I guess that this was "Get LOL Naked On The X-Ray Screen Week!

As I stood, arms out-stretched, in front of the scanner, I watched my purse, with my Reno bankroll inside, glide down the security belt, and come to stop at the end of the belt. Any light-fingered passer-by could have grabbed it. I INSISTED that a TSA person watch my purse, until I was through being scanned. I've read too many stories about careless travelers having their bags stolen by thieves, who lurk at the end of security belts. They quickly snatch unattended purses, computers etc. and run off, before the passenger notices his belongings are gone. I noticed that two TSA people quickly began watching my purse and wheelie, from both sides of the belt. My only concern now was not to to get too high a dose of radiation. Also, having heard rumors about how much the X- Ray showed, I was happy that I heeded my Mom's oft repeated admonition, "to always wear clean underwear".

It seems that every day brings a new aggravation, especially for players
traveling to gambling destinations! }}O:

You might want to take a look at the harassment this young man endured by the TSA because of his "crime" of carrying $4700 in cash inside his carry-on bag.

Additionally, with the installation of new Nude-O-Scopes in many airports, your view of personal belongings is blocked during the screening process at many airports. There have been numerous reports of theft during the screening process and the TSA claims no responsibility to passenger belongings.

Personally, I always carry my bankroll on my person. As long as I'm carrying under $10k cash then the TSA has no right to question the nature of the currency unless they have probable cause to believe the money was obtained via illegal means. Lock your bankroll(wallet, purse, ID. etc) inside your carry on bag before placing it on the x-ray machine conveyor belt.Your shoes, liquids, belt coat will be in a separate bin. Send it through first. Wait to put your bag through the machine until you are 1st in line for the metal detector or scanner . If TSA
wants to look inside, you have to unlock it for them. Also
a standard carry on bag is easy to watch and very difficult
for someone to walk off with. If you are subject to additional screening
insist on facing your belongings at all times. Usually they request you do this.

Why not travelers checks or cashiers checks?

I too have carried several thousand in my fanny pack which goes thru x-ray. Once w/ 3 or 4K i walked off & forgot my pack. I got quite a ways & remembered...talk about a sick feeling. Hurrying back I ran into the security dude walking toward me w/ pack in hand, heading for lost found, Come to think of it, I don't remember that I had to show him any proof it was mine.
My question...Anyone know what the casino policies are for cashing personal checks. I generally carry one, but luckily never have lost my full stash so have had to. I've cashed check @ local casino couple of times for $1k tho.

I tried to cash a $1,500 check at TI once to avoid the ATM charge. In order to do that, they wanted me to fill out a form listing bank accounts, name, address, etc. A very long form. It was too much of a hassle, so I declined and paid the ATM fee.

I would have filled it out if I had plans to stay at TI on future trips, as it would be good there on out.

There is no universal policy on check cashing.
You can normally count on being able to cash a $500 check if you are staying at the casino.
Caesars Entertainment casinos typically allow Diamond players to cash checks for larger amounts.

Take Care,
Mark
