bankroll

a few comments for Bruce Cohen

1. Snopes is an independent fact checker, has no "anti-freedom" agenda, and is not in the pocket of either the Democratic or Republican political parties. When they investigate something it is fully documented and footnoted right there in and at the bottom of the article. Glenn Beck will warp your mind.

2. There are no "RFID" chips in any U.S. currency yet.

3. The security thread may or may not have metal in it, but not enough to set off any metal detector in any increment that a human being can carry. I've carried >$100,000 through and even when the metal detector wand was put directly on the money it did not set anything off. Maybe if you brought a steamer trunk full of $100 bills through something might go off. It is the bulge that always gives it away.

You might want to take a look at the harassment this young man endured by
the TSA because of his "crime" of carrying $4700 in cash inside his carry-on
bag.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/06/20/tsa.lawsuit/index.html

Additionally, with the installation of new Nude-O-Scopes in many airports,
your view of personal belongings is blocked during the screening process at
many airports. There have been numerous reports of theft during the
screening process and the TSA claims no responsibility to passenger
belongings.

Personally, I always carry my bankroll on my person. As long as I'm
carrying under $10k cash then the TSA has no right to question the nature of
the currency unless they have probable cause to believe the money was
obtained via illegal means. Thanks to Steve Bierfeldt for standing up for
his civil liberties:

What you say is no joke.
Dateline, 20-20 or some similar show a couple of years ago
had multiple reports of people being stopped on highways for
traffic infractions. The cops ask how much money you
have or "request" to search the car. If they find you
have even a couple of grand they steal it, give you a
receipt and it is up to you to get a lawyer and "prove" to
the court that the money has a legitimate source.
In my opinion, I love traveler's checks. Tough for
anyone to steal be it bad guys or "good" guys.

Whoa. Stop the presses. A hispanic man in south Texas carrying over $10,000 cash. That wouldn't raise suspicion at all. I know they have a real handle on the drug trafficing across the border down there.

Okay, it happened. Will it happen to you? not likely. Possible, but not likely. This is anecdotal, not a trend or policy. Think someone in a turban trying to fly after 9-11.

I also recall seeing one of the news magazine shows some years back about law enforcement confiscating large amounts of cash from people during traffic stops. My memory is of Louisiana being one of the states they focused on where this was happening. They spoke with several people who had to go through hell and high water trying to get their money back. Don't believe it's happening? A simple Google search brings up many innocent people who've had their cash taken by law enforcement.

I would say that it is a problem.
That by being proactive, nice and cooperative, you can
typically get by, on a car stop, or a TSA check.

But the fact of the matter is, despite most Government
employees being honest, honorable and well-intentioned,
there are always cops and TSA people and other folks
who are bullies.

I've personally seen all kinds of unfair things happen
when a bully thinks they can get away with it, especially
when they can hide behind their badge.

My friends who work for different agencies, including
Law Enforcement, tell stories of folks working 'with'
them doing some really terrible (and illegal and
Unconstitutional) things to Civilians.

I've seen the Police reports.

I've personally delivered sworn statements to the FBI,
CA Attorney General, Orange County Grand Jury and
many more agencies about rogue cops doing this
kind of thing.

The worst part of it is that it takes forever for anyone
to want to do something about it.

Most of the Agencies I went to for help told me it
wasn't in their jurisdiction, or that I needed to go
to someone else first.

Yeah, great.
Cop corruption involving stolen money, forged
documents and bullying of both Civilians and
lower ranking cops is boring and no big deal.

No tin foil hat required.

Folks DO have problems.
It IS good to be aware.
And it is good to discuss it when it affects us.

I'm glad this topic came up here because I want
to start making 'paper route' trips to the Las Vegas
Casinos like I used to.

Maybe I can't win steadily like before, but I know
I have to bring a big bankroll and forewarned is
forearmed.

And I hope nobody thinks I am pushing my brand
of Political philosophy. I posted a very brief statement
about my background on this as a disclaimer so folks
would know my view on this is biased that way.

I'm not asking for donations or recruiting here, just
discussing something that could be important.

Thanks.

White, black, purple, brown or yellow, if you place yourself in a stupid
situation, you're gonna get it.
YES, police officers in the United States profile. It has nothing to do with
race.

Look at today's headlines with the TSA and the airport screening process. Little
old ladies, four year old boys and people with obvious debiltating issues are
getting a full pat-down search. WHY? Because the liberal left does not want the
TSA to profile the Hajis who are the only group who uses commercial airliners as
missiles. Until we the people get smart, you can look for equal treatment for
all. LOL

White, black, purple, brown or yellow, if you place yourself in a stupid
situation, you're gonna get it.
YES, police officers in the United States profile. It has nothing to do with

race.

Look at today's headlines with the TSA and the airport screening process.
Little
old ladies, four year old boys and people with obvious debiltating issues
are
getting a full pat-down search. WHY? Because the liberal left does not want
the
TSA to profile the Hajis who are the only group who uses commercial
airliners as
missiles. Until we the people get smart, you can look for equal treatment
for
all. LOL

This is by no means an isolated incident. Local police departments around
the country are abusing asset forfeiture. It's outrageous both that they are
seizing money and property without so much as a hearing before a judge, and
almost as outrageous that they get to keep the proceeds, creating an obvious
conflict of interest.

And it even spills over to white people occasionally!

I also recall seeing one of the news magazine shows some years back about
law enforcement confiscating large amounts of cash from people during
traffic stops. My memory is of Louisiana being one of the states they
focused on where this was happening. They spoke with several people who had
to go through hell and high water trying to get their money back. Don't
believe it's happening? A simple Google search brings up many innocent
people who've had their cash taken by law enforcement.

Oh, the good ole days, we went down to Miami to the Ritz Carlton from Tampa Bay for a small buying trip for Estate Jewelry & Ohhhh, those Colombian Emeralds & 22k to 24k Gold prices back then with $13k cash but, these days, we overnight travelers checks to our destination. Simplicity. KISS is our motto. Had the best $15 Hamburger in Room Svc. that we have ever eaten (just a plug for the RC..hehe). Bought a boatload of Jewelry (jewelry license in hand) & returned with our bounty just fine..Nowadays, we have the jewelry over-nighted as well. You cannot find a safer method. Period. Not going to wade into the debate substantively, but I do have to jump in on one thing: "Cops get paid very well". Perhaps at the federal level, but at the local level, at least in Tennessee, that is absolutely not the case. Regardless of your political bent, patrol officers face the very real potential for death or serious bodily injury with every traffic stop. Their salaries are public record and they aren't enough. They aren't paid "very well".

If you are NOT a criminal, you should not be treated as one,
regardless of your 'looks'.

Being stupid or having bad manners, likewise.

Cops get paid very well, and should treat people nicely,
honorably and Constitutionally, regardless of what
corridor they happen to be using.
