A bankroll of 10k or 20k or more (even in $100 bills) is a lot/too
bulky to carry along in your wallet, pockets, purse, etc.
What works well for you?
a. Use markers
b. Use checks
c. Your suggestions???
Thanks.

When I need a lot of bankroll, I pre-order $1000 traveler checks.
Twenty TC's replace 200 $100 bills. I've never had a problem cashing
$1000 checks at major casinos.
If you don't have access to free traveler checks, it's worth opening
a checking or savings account that offers it. AAA gives free
traveler's checks, but in my region they do not carry and will not
order large denomination checks.
As a side note, travelers checks are not nearly as handy as they used
to be in Europe. I went to play at a casino in Belgium a few months
ago, and I brought most of my bank in TC's. Neither the casino nor
the banks would cash a traveler's check. One of the banks told me
they had stopped cashing them in January. (These were in US$; I'm
not sure if I could have cashed checks in Euros.)

I use a combination of Markers and Travellers checks.
I establish lines of credit at casinos that I intend to go to frequently.
Other casinos I use travellers checks.

I have not done the line of credit. I was concerned about the casino having direct
access to your checking account. Is this a concern of yours and have you had any issues? Does the accounting of your draws always match the charge, assuming you dont settle it before you leave?
I noticed some casinos will grant liberal check cashing assuming you qualify. That way I control the charges.

If you are worried the casino is going to defraud you and your bank, you
might also be concerned the games are being cheated and not play there at
all.
I'm pretty sure you can trust MGM-Mirage or Harrah's Entertainment with your
bank information.

I don't know why anyone would NOT want to have a line of credit at
their core casino? You can either set it up to only cash checks or you
can get a credit line which you set the limit on. The casinos are more
than happy to give you a line of credit up to the amount average
balance of your bank account. Set a limit that you'd be comfortable
losing. If you don't think you have enough control, then don't do it!
When you take a marker, it is the same as a "counter check". The
"marker" has your Bank Name, Routing and account number on it. If you
fail to buy it back within 30-45 days, they run it through your bank
and the cash better be there. In the more than ten years that I've
done this at a half dozen casinos there's never been any problem.
In-fact, I utilize the casino's main cage as my bank as my branch does
not have an ATM. All of my monies are direct deposited to my checking
account. I write checks to the casino for gambling as well as everyday
expenses. If I happen to be in a casino and don't have any blank
checks with me, I take a marker. I then have several weeks to buy it
back or let it go through my bank. I consider Main Cashiers at major
casinos to be as safe as my local bank.
They only have access to the information you allow them to have , i.e. your bank balance information. If they tried to cash a check
against your account that you had not signed they could be charged with a felony. No reputable casino would ever do this.
So I would advise that you only arrange markers with reputable casinos.
I have never had a problem and I have been using markers for a lot of years.

A.P.

I wasnt very specific. I was concerned more with errors than fraud.
There is obviously an accouting process of draws taken vs repayment that could
result in errors.

Realize that the casino cashiers have a very strict procedure to follow in
everything since they are the keepers of the gold. When you take a marker
you sign a physical piece of paper; when you repay it, you get it back. I
have only ever had one error (out of hundreds of transactions), where they
accidentally gave me someone else's marker when I paid one off. I caught it
because my name wasn't on it.
