I am going to Vegas saturday and wonder if any of you math wizzes out
there could help me figure out how much money I need to avoid going
broke playing 8000 hands of quarter 9/6 JOB. A 5% ROR would be
tolerable. Thanks
Off the top of my head, I'd estimate the royal-and-straigh-flush-free drain,
3%, plus the cost of being two standard deviations low on quads: 3% of
$10,000 is $300, plus 8 quads at $31.25 each, makes a total of $550. So you
have about 95% confidence you'll be down $550 or less by the end of your
scheduled hands.
ROR also has to take into account the chance that you run out of funds early
on a trip where you'd have finished at or above that number had you been
able to continue playing. To cover that, I suggest your trip bankroll start
with at least $750 in it. I believe that would give you 95% confidence that
you'd be able to play all 8000 hands before losing the entire stake.
