mvppoker.com The total amount of money one is willing (and able) to put at
risk. An adequate playing bankroll for a particular game (assuming positive
expectation) is an amount large enough to survive the expected swings due
to variance. For a negative expectation game, an adequate bankroll is one
which doesn't run out before you die.
To bankroll someone is to provide some or all of the money they use to
gamble. In effect, you assume part of the risk in return for part of the
profit.
Questions: Why do some members of vpfree and winpoker believe that the
term "bankroll" somehow applies to a *lifetime* of gambling, rather than
to each individual session? What is the benefit of re-defining this term?
Throughout my years of experience at various games, the term "bankroll"
has always coincided with the above definitions. It wasn't until I became
a member of vpfree that I saw the notion of "lifetime" assigned to the
definition. What is it about vp that makes this unique definition either
important or of practical value?
