B.D.- Superstitious ?

So I'm in Atl. City talking with this couple who had lived for awhile
in Las Vegas. They had attended Dancer's classes at the Fiesta and I'm
not sure if this was mentioned by BD during a class or in conversation
afterwards.
Anyway he told them that if he has had a very good session on a
particular machine he will record the serial number and go back to that
machine on his next visit. If someone is on the machine he will wander
the casino till it is unoccupied !

The last thing Bob Dancer is is superstitious. He's looking for a machine that might be malfunctioning to his advantage.

Has anyone actually found a machine that is malfunctioning to the
players advantage? I have found machines where the comp points are
accruing to the player's advantage e.g. playing a multplay .05 machine
that is accumulating points at .25 rate...(I have also noticed examples
to the players detriment playing .25 but only getting .05 credit)But I
have never come across a machine where the game itself was
malfunctioning.

The only malfunctioning vp machine that I've played was an old
coin-dropper that continuosly registered more credits than the
the number of coins inserted. The most frequent "malfunction" was
registering 5 credits when only 4 coins had been inserted.
Sometimes, it did this when only 3 coins had been fed in. Instead
of taking the coins smoothly, it seemed to almost "hiccup" and then
"skip" prior to showing that full coin had been inserted.

I played this 9/6JoB for hours, and despite this huge advantage,
I still managed to lose $200. When I went back to the same machine
later, it was no longer "skipping", but still inhaling my money.

I played a BP machine at Palace Station several years ago that always
spilled more coins than I had credits. If I had 100 credits it might
spill 110 coins. Another possible malfunction, which I've never see,
would be a TITO where the ticket amount was larger than it should
be. Yesterday I began play at the Rampart and the previous player
left their $20 TITO in the machine ... not a malfunction, but it does
happen (I've done it several times myself)!
