AZ Adventure/Part three

Leave Prescott, go north to I-40. Same boring road to Laughlin
again, get to Kingman and decide to go to Oatman. Oatman is a gold
mining town that was on the original Route 66. This isn't even the
route 66 that I-40 replaced, but the first path.

Just south of Kingman is the turnoff, Oatman is 25 miles or so away.
The storm is just rolling in. In this part of the world you can see
both ends of a frieght train at once or the whole rain squall.

First the speed limit is 45mph, but the washes have too much water in
them to do this. Getting a bit concerned crossing these unfamiliar
dips. Anyway, start climbing up out of the rain. WOW, speed limit
is down to 25 mph. Road lane is about a foot wider than my car with
no guardrails. This is cooler than expected.

Oatman is sort of a little tourist place, burros wander the street.
Anyway I take the right fork after leaving town, route 66 turns
south. I take the road to Bullhead City.

You still are a couple miles south of Aztec Road when you hit state
95. Aztec takes you over to the bridge by AVI casino.

Stopped in AVI to do the free Wednesday VP tourney. $1500 in prize
fund, top three cash. Everyone plays a ten minute/200 hand session
on Bonus Deluxe 8/5 IGT slant-tops. Top 18 scores make it to the
finals at 8pm. Hard to burn up all the credits.

While waiting for my session I do the $50 in chips for $40 daily
special. $5 chips even money bets only. So it is Craps time on the
$2/triple odds table. I can't use my funny money for odds, so get
some real ones too. A couple of rookies are tossing the dice, making
everything in sight. I cash out up $150 after burning up the funny
ones and didn't even toss the bones.

On to Casino Drive and some comfort.

I took the long way for once.
