Awful Awful update

Was in Reno last week, and the wife and I stopped by the Reno Nugget to try the Awful Awful burger, that was highly touted in this news group. The Nugget coffee shop is in the back of this "dead" casino for a Saturday Night, and seemed to be a hangout for the Dregs of Society. The place was filthy dirty, and looked like it had not been cleaned in over a week. I watched the Slovene cook ( and that's being nice as she had food all over her, and was sweating like a pig - with no hair net or gloves ) prepare the awful awful. She grabbed a frozen slab of beef which had obvious freezer burns on the edges, slap on grease and chuck it on the grill. The grill was filthy. We watched for about 10 minutes, and were not asked once what our order would be! My wife and I were convinced that this was the number one place to catch Ptomaine poisoning in all of Reno and we ran out of the place and ended up eating at Molly's at the Fitz, whom relative to the Nugget, seemed like the Grand Palace !
It may indeed be the best tasting burger in Reno for blind folks, but if you go there - be prepared for the worse. The good news is that nearby St Mary's hospital on West 6th Street , has a really good emergency room open 24x7 !

best wishes...Tom

LOL!!!
You lucked out because you didn't know you had to go up to the cash
register to order, then grab a seat. I don't know why the hired help
never notices that out-of-towners don't know to go to the cash
register.

The place is easily the greasiest greasy spoon in America.

Yeah, definately...
If you're not too busy, head into Carson City, and go to the Coffee
Shop in the Carson Nugget. Much better, with the same aweful aweful
(well...better, in your case).
I have to at least get one every time I go...with players card, you
can even get the Aweful-Aweful to go!
Limerick's at Fitz used to have a good Prime Rib deal...haven't been
inside Fitz since the major ownership change though...

can't second that recommendation - carson nugget is second only to
boomtown among reno-area casinos where i sometimes play but will
never, ever eat. fandango is by far the best bet for casino food in
carson.

cheers,

five

Hmm...I've never had a bad meal at CCNugget...but I will say that
Fandango has some KILLER buffet!! Their saturday night seafood buffet
is only second to Reno Nugget's seafood night...then again, I hear
Atlantis has a good seafood offering...

When my friends and I go to Reno we always have our breakfast and
dinners at the Gold Dust West. We have tried others but have never
been as happy. You get a lot of food for the price and the quality is
great. The only time I had better was years ago at the Reno Hilton.
My friend was invited to a high roller slot tournament and she
invited me. It was 4 stars all the way. We did we stay one more day
after the even and ate their normal meals we where highly
disappointed in their standard meal fair. I haven't played at the
Atlantis (after they pissed me off a year ago) but up at the arcade
they had great chilidogs.
