Auto hold

From having observed and being forced to play with this feature I can say
that VLC autohold was dead accurate but I have never seen a playable game
on that platform.
IGT is not very accurate especially with less common games and Williams is
worse than the average pigeon. Unless it is dead accurate, I prefer it off!
A number of us complained about them at the Majestic Star (IGT) in Gary IN
and they turned the autohold off. I think inaccurate info on those is
somewhat unethical.

Subject: [vpFREE] Auto hold

On my last visit to the casino, I noticed that the AA machines had

auto hold, and a couple of players that I consider very knowledgeable had
this feature turned on. I know that auto hold will not produce the best
play all of the time, but I am interested in the observations of players
who are familiar with this feature. Would you consider turning on auto
hold if it were available, and then overriding the incorrect holds?

=============================================

The only time I've ever played, using the "Auto-

Hold" feature, was in the Reno Peppermill, a few years ago. They had
that feature on the IGT MG 4+4 back to back slant-tops, near the
Steakhouse. Those wonderful babies contained both FPDW & FPJW (those
were the days, my friends!)

The autohold feature was the default system, and played/held the
cards automatically unless a tech was summoned to shut it off. I
used it, but was very careful to overide the auto-hold when it held
counter to correct strategy (according to BDWP). The auto-hold
strategy was particularly weak on JW, and made many incorrect holds,
the most common of which was holding a No Joker 3 card SF WITH gaps,
over a small pair.

The worst problem I had with auto-hold, was in remembering NOT to
hit the hold button, for cards already held, and thereby whiffing
away what should have been saved. This was a real task for me as I
tend to play quite fast. It was enough of a challenge and nuisance,
that eventually, I waited for a tech to turn off the auto-hold
feature.

I would gladly use the auto-hold again, if they would only bring
those great machines back!
