This may be my last trip for a while,
as I'll soon be starting a new job (who knows when my next vacation will be...).
I stayed at the EW to use up comps in Laughlin.
1. Aug is way too HOT to be outdoors at anytime.
Even the walk from EW front doors to the garage was brutal most days, unless you got out by 8-9 am.
2. EW comp trick - NOW if you decline room/daily housekkeeping,
as part of 'going green' by hanging a special door hanger on door nightly by 2 am, you'll have a $5 food comp coupon slid under your door.
You can do this for each of your nights stay, except for the Last one before you check out next day.
3. EW-CB vp is definitely gutted.
They still had the seq. RF slanttop bank ($15,000++) with 9/5 JB.
I didn't find any fullpay 8/5 BP in .25 or less.
Some 7/5 nickel prog triple plays (10-coin).
4. LIVE POKER might be an option for some players.
I like the AVI as my new poker/vp home.
5. POKER rooms in general are full of locals, with some regular tourist players. The promos are mostly to keep you playing in THEIR roooms, to qualify for freeroll tourneys, etc.
(i.e - Riverside, mini-freeroll NL tourney 3 days per week,
easy to qualify for with high hand every hour at your table,
lose with KK or AA, etc.).
6. AA cracked bonuses in Riverside, CB, and AVI,
but AVI pays the MOST!
Red AA certain hours pays more at Riverside only, but only once per 3 hr session.
DETAILS on these poker promos can be found in the online Laughlin Entertainer newsrag...
COMPS = +$5 cb at Riverside after 3 hrs live poker play, only ONCE per day.
CB-EW pay $1/hr directly goes to your slot comp/card.
AVI pays $1.50 hourly! Current promo will also pay up to $2/hr,
if accumulated hrs 50 min. by AUG 31. (cashout day in lieu of using in their food outlets!).
7. I didn't have a chance to visit the new GN poker area,
but they advertised some decent promos. Would like to check it out next time....
8. BONUSES for RF/SF high hands are the best at the CB (see Prog. High Hand board, updated daily). RFs esp. can grow into 4 digits.
They spread a 2/4 game, which is probably the cheapest way to try to hit those kind of jackpot hands, just make sure to get '$20 in the pot'. AVI pays straight $500/200 for RF/SF vs Riverside $300/$100.
RiverP similar to Riverside, but other promos there, incl. 6 hrs play for a free room (in their crappy RP rooms).
CB has a nice 'game-starter' promo - get in the first game (usually 2/4 or 2-6 spread limit), and for the first 2 hrs only, the HIGHEST hand made at the table wins $50. Usually a full-house or higher will win that bonus. Then from noon-2 pm, AA cracked promo is 2x,
or Black AA worth $200 vs $100; all other AA worth $50 vs. @25 when you lose with that hand...
AVI pays the most generally for AA or KK cracked all day long!
Red AA pays $100, Black AA pays $50, mixed $25, but these are DOUBLED everyday from 8 am-noon (game starter promo).
Also 2x ALL DAY LONG on Sun/WEd, and 3x ALL DAY long on Mon/Thurs.
(except for the Red AA or KK bonuses).
I got Black AA beat on THurs. for $150 payout!
Construction on main casino drive medians has ground to a halt - Visitor ctr. staff told me there was a contract dispute and/or fallout with the city to complete the work. May be just another sign of the bad economy.
Final thoughts on VP at the AVI - about 1/3 to half of their machines still spit out COINS! Plenty of 8/5 BP older slanttops,
along with the newer GKs.... keeps some slot tech/change people working....
I think there's one bank of GKs near security booth and/or VP tourney area had 9/7 db.
AVI - NEW member passport book is worth getting (if you haven't converted to their new slot club since Nov 2010)...
It contains 2-$5 mps, 1- free Ace coupon for BJ.
ALSO 1 free (Wed) vp tourney entry ($5 value) or (Tue/Th) BJ tourney entry. WInCards available (once every 6 mos.).
New Feather cafe MEXICAN value menu from 3 - 11 pm,
nothing over 6.99 as I recall. GREAT food deals here,
which is probably why I never used up all my poker comp dollars....
Martin.
