This message is really a sincere one to any casino employees who may
be monitoring this board.
I see that Sunset Station has added One Eyed Jacks to their
inventory. This game is a very smart addition on the part of Sunset
Station. Other casinos may want to consider following their lead in
offering this game.
The advantages of offering this game for a casino is that while the
full pay version does have a 100.28% theoretical pay back, the
difficulty of the strategy assures that the hold on this game will be
significantly greater than any other 100%+ games being offered in Las
Vegas.
The complexity of the strategy is far beyond any other game because
the Jack of Spades and the Jack of Hearts are wild cards. This
creates not only the complexity of straight interference high in the
deck, but also the holds for hearts and spades are different than
diamond and club holds. The penalty card situations are complex and
come up at a high frequency rate. I would estimate the difficulty
level as ten times that of 10/7 double bonus. Any of the members here
that have tried to learn the game can attest to the level of
difficulty of the strategy.
This strategy hurdle for players is made even greater by the fact
that none of the commercially available software tutorial programs
accommodate this pay table. Players that are interested in learning
the strategy don't have a widely available learning tool to use.
Another casino advantage is the variance of One Eyed Jacks which is
almost as high as Double Double Bonus. While the high payouts on wild
royals and five of a kind will attract players, the low payouts,
which start with three of a kind and two pair only paying the initial
bet back will devastate those not properly bankrolled.
Since only a fraction of those playing the game will be able to
approach the theoretical pay back percentage, being able to put a
large "100% Pay Back with Optimal Play" sign on top of these
machines, would seem to be a significant lure with very little
exposure.
The only drawback that I can see; is that since this game is so rare
it does not have a following like games such as Double Double Bonus.
I do think that if offered in numbers, and promoted, it is one that
would catch on in popularity, given the structure of the pay table.
Why would I offer this unsolicited good advice to Las Vegas Casinos?
It's purely self interest. I've invested a year and a half learning
the strategy for a play in another jurisdiction and enjoy playing it.
On my vacations to Las Vegas I'd like to have another game to play
that gives me a fair chance of winning.
I don't expect any response from the intended audience of this post,
but any reaction or comment from the members here is certainly
welcome. -JFR
