attaching w2Gs to return

I believe if you e-file you will need to attach copies of all your W2Gs.
I file using TaxCut but since we have so many W2Gs, I print out my return
and total the number of W2Gs and any other winnings as "gambling income",
then itemize and put in "gambling losses". I attach a separate list that
shows the daily totals of all W2Gs/wins and all losses. This isn't necessary,
but I usually attach it as well.

Only W-2G's that have tax withheld.

When I have used Turbo Tax online, I have had to enter every W2G separately.
I believe this is because you do not send paper and each W2G has a
"transaction number" that will allow the IRS to track it. I play in a state
that has State income tax withheld but not Federal.

All the tax software programs I have used prompt you to individually type in the W-2G's, but you can exit the interview and manually enter gambling wins or you can fib in the interview and say you have no W-2G's or 1099's to enter. Even if you enter all the individual W-2G's, I think that info may just be retained for your records and only the necessary tax form information transmitted to the IRS.

One year I made the mistake of trying to enter all my W-2G's separately only to discover after about 20 entries that I had reached the max number of entries allowed by the software. I was sooooo mad!

I used to fill in the TurboTax W-2G worksheet for each and every one I'd received. The past two years, I've filled in one and only one per casino. For the casinos from which I received more than one, I created a "summary" W-2G. IRS processed both returns without even a whimper.
