Atlantis

I thought I previously posted a message about the Atlantis, but it is not showing up. It was questions about what amount of winnings might produce a no-mail action. Also, would this be cumulative over several trips? Would it be a good idea for my husband and me to change our joint account?

I apologize if these messages appear twice. Thanks!

Can you explain what you mean? Are you saying that you are a winning player (on 100%+ games) and you fear you may not get mailers?

My apologies- I thought I had posted a question about the Atlantis here on VPFree Reno, but instead posted it to the Harrahs Casino group. A couple of people in that group responded with their experiences.

My original post was supposed to be:

" We are pretty new at visiting Reno. We’ve heard that the Atlantis no-mails after a certain amount of wins. Does any one have an idea what kind of dollar amount this would be? Could this be cumulative over several trips, or would you need only one lucky session? Would it be wise for my spouse and me to sever our joint accounts, as we have had no W2-G wins at this point?

The game we are most interested in would possibly produce a fair amount of W2-Gs."

We un-joined our accounts after my wife got a call from her host who said (sadly) she had been un-hosted after a two royal trip in 2013. But it was too late as have gotten nada mail offers. Haven’t been back since and miss the joint.

So, think you should separate accounts before any heat in order to reduce shrapnel.

Bear in mind that while you’ve lost out on mailed free slot play, you can still call and book casino rate at Atlantis and stand a strong chance of getting the charge comped off based upon trip review.

If you’re nostalgic for Atlantis, there’s decent cause to return.

I have been no-mailed at Atlantic and PM for almost three years, now.

In Atlantic City, some of the casinos would no-mail me for a while. Then, someone in marketing would notice that I hadn’t been coming in, and they would send me a “we missed you” offer. I don’t think it is going to happen at Atlantic or PM.

I had been getting $500 free-play once per month at Atlantis. I missed cashing in my last offer by five minutes because my flight was delayed. Dang!

If you were getting $500 per month, you must have been putting in some serious coin.

Black Diamond?

For me (actually for 4 of us - two couples that would visit Reno about 4
times/yr), we were no-mailed at PEP in late 2009, then from ATL in late
2011 after we started playing there instead. We were each getting offers in the $1000 range. We were pretty big VP players ($25-$45 bets).

PEP
not only no-mailed us, but wiped out all existing comps and knocked us down to beginner status level. When our host informed us, I think she was more disappointed than we were.

So we migrated over to ATL.
Played even bigger over there for the next 2 years before they no-mailed us. Haven’t been back to Reno since. We still haven’t seen any “we miss you” offers, or any mail at all from either place.

Because
we were playing $1 Spinpoker NSUD at $45/hand (among other things, but that was our main game), we’d usually each rack up 3-5 W-2Gs on every trip. Not sure if that’s what caught their attention or not. We’d be up 10 or 20 grand on some trips, down that much on others. So we weren’t exactly doing anything to try and fly under the radar.

I don’t mean disrespect…but if you’ve got the 'roll to play that big…why play in RENO?!

Surely, MGM Grand (with the $1 9/6 JoB Spin Pokers) would be better…

Obviously, playing a 99.73% game with perks, PLUS the bounce-back was huge (Not for your play, because I would imagine it was only ½%?; but for RENO)…but did you really expect that to last??

I had another play in Vegas going, but I was looking for a 2nd or 3rd I could combine it with. I didn’t really know what most places were offering so I just did some sample tests. I threw $200k coin-in through the 9/6 JOB at MGM a few years ago on one trip and didn’t get squat for it on bounceback (like $75 or something). I don’t remember the earned free play (from points) being more than about 0.1% (although I could be remembering wrong).

Maybe I just didn’t play enough. I’ve heard some mention it as a play but I didn’t have a good enough source to clue me in on the specifics. Maybe I needed to get to a level higher than Platinum (I figured I’d play to that as my initial test)? I probably could have worked up to a double-dip airfare reimbursement to add another few tenths of a % on bigger play but the paltry bounceback just turned me off. Maybe I should have given it another 2 or 3 trips. I really don’t care about comps and other perks, unless I can convert them to cash somehow. I just wasn’t seeing how to squeeze another 0.5%+ out of it to make it worthwhile. So I just racked that up as a failed test.

And no, I didn’t really expect Pepermill and Atlantis to last. Well, maybe Peppermill initially, as we’d never been sanctioned by a casino before that. But after that happened, we figured it was just a matter of time before others started doing the same. (Now about a dozen casinos in 2 states have cut us off.) It was nice while it lasted, but we figured better just to strike while the iron was hot because casinos are just getting smarter and more sophisticated about it all. Twas only a matter of time. We had a great run though.

imho both atlantis and pepp are much better than mgm in games, food and rooms , reno can be a great place if you are into the outdoors

ATL and PM compare favorably to LV and you don’t have to deal with the traffic, beggars, hustlers and 5000 room monstosity of a hote. Some people like it others don’t.
