atlantis update

there has definitely not been a general restoration of 10/7 double bonus at
atlantis. almost all the machines i checked were 9/7 or worse. i mostly
checked dollar machines.

the bar near cafe alfresco (waterfall bar?) has 10/7 $1 on a progressive (at
$4050 when i was there), and 10/7 $2 without progressive.

the circular bank of six uprights near the poker room has the following
games, all at ten-coin nickels and quarters:

9/6 jacks (SF=450)
9/6 jacks (seq RF=100000)
10/7 db
10/6 ddb
9/6 bdlx (seq RF=100000)
15/8 ldw
15/10 sbdw
200/75/50 oej

they have some form of jokers at nickels only. they also have 20-coin video
blackjack with 5:2 on naturals at both quarters and nickels. i did not test
the comp rate because my card is going nowhere near those machines.

nsud is missing from the one five-play multistrike machine i checked.

the two machines in high limit which offered $20/hand video blackjack with
5:2 on naturals are no more.

the one super times pay multistrike machine (near the players club kiosks)
has 9/6 jacks at 10-coin dimes and quarters. (10 coins, plus 2 coin bonus
bet, times four, so 48 credits per play.)

cheers,

five

Just got back from a 9 day reno trip, and spent 4 days at atlantis. You might want to update the list as follows:
* 2 triple play NSUD machines in sky terrace
* 2 super times pay MS machines with fp 9/5 super double and 9/6 BDLUX ( only FP at 10C and above )
* 8 super triple play poker machines ( full pay at 25C for 11/6 Jacks/ 9/6 bdlux[ but only one of the machines offers this ].
This is a fun game , but I clocked only 1/50 quads when dealt a 3oak. This was a small sample of about 250, so if anybody likes this game , clock it and let us know. These games were getting almost no action, because its only full pay at 25C, the 10C schedule are really short.
* 4 5play MS with best game double bonus deuces wild ( FP at 5C/25C )

PS - the new carosel with the full pay games ( 10/6 ddb, 1 eyed jacks, loose deuce, etc ) is in the coldest part of the casino. While I was playing there it felt about 45 degrees with the wind chill factor from the constantly opening doors. Playing with a coat on made it palitable.

LOL

Are these machines bait to trap and identify advantage players? I
think I'll also hold off while others try to get the cheese.

The machines blast out a warning right away "free play /ecash not available at this machine" so something is up. The VPFREE database states $100 to add a point on these, but its so hard to check points at Atlantis its difficult to tell, but that seems way out of line.
I stayed there for 4 nights concierge over NYE and managed to comp a room for my son too. So basically they picked up all of my $1600 bill ( which included food ) except for a single $50 coffee shop. This was after about $72K in action and a $1800 loss - so I figured it was a great deal playing an average EV of about 99.85. Hey, is it my fault I played a lot of $ 10/7/$5700 royal DB poker, and got killed on the "best" game in the house !
Maybe if I had been a winner ( Peppermill for sure would have shafted me ) - things would have been different.

best wishes...Tom

i may be giving them too much credit in suggesting they'd set up a
honeypot like that, but when a casino blares out "look! if you are
concerned with exact odds and payback percentages, play --->THESE<---
machines!", it makes me shy away.

i mean, gosh, under 100%, over 100%, what's the big deal? i'm just
here to play and hope to get lucky, right?

not like there aren't plenty of other good machines at atlantis.

cheers,

Honeypot? I don't think so. The Stations Casinos identify all their
100% games and also reduce the points per coin in and make that known.
I think it's about remaining competitive more than anything else. Many
regulars of the Atlantis picked up their marbles and played elsewhere
when Atlantis downgraded all their VP machines. This was an effort to
get them back and to remain competitive.

Potentially, news of Stations coming to town made a difference. Who
really knows? As far as identifying advantage players? If you play
with a card, they have a detailed profile of you. It's that simple.
You are already identified. I am an advantage player and I am still
treated royally by Atlantis. Maybe because I play quarters they don't
think of me as a threat.

What do you mean by Stations, and that they are coming to town. I have
heard about Stations before, what is this about?

http://www.stationcasinos.com/

Stations casinos are primarily located in the Las Vegas area. They
offer plenty of good video poker. There are plans to build a large
Stations facility in South Reno in the upcoming years. It made the
newspapers recently (Reno Gazette Journal). Stations would give the
casinos in Reno a run for their money. I have no inside knowledge
other than what information I have researched on my own and read in the
paper. When we go to Las Vegas, we play in Stations Casinos.
