Atlantis Reno High Limit Changes

a few months back they added a $2 denom to the 10x Super Aces in the
high limit area. Now they shorted the machines on the back wall to
7/5 on both $1 and $2 denominations in the high limit room. On the
main floor the circular banks near the showroom of 5x and 10x are
still 8/5 with various denominations up to $1.

Another popular game at Atlantis Reno was the bartop and high limit
blackjack. They've reduced, on high limit machines the top bet to
only 2 coins and changed the 5 for 2 good payoff to 2 for 1 on some
machines. Also, they've changed the feature that pays a blackjack
(5 for 2 or 3 to 2) on split aces that catch a 10. That reduces the
return on the game by 0.18% I believe. Split Aces that catch a 10
are now paid even money.

I don't know why Atlantis is tightening up, but they apparantly are.
They are also getting much harder to get airfare from denying
many friends of mine who put in some serious action.

Yes they are & the reasons are on the co. web site , Monarch

Casino, (ticker symbol mrch). They have bought the shopping center
next door & plan to add 2 towers for another 2k rooms plus doubling
the size of the casino in the next 3-5 years.

They are trying to increase the cash flow on the books so they can
lower the cost of the capital they want to borrow.

They have settle most outstanding loans & were allowed to convert
the 5 million $ in secured bonds to unsecrued debt last year .

Going from 85% family owned to 83% public ownership in the last 4
yers did not help!!

Between this & the Pepp expansion plus Stations casinos long term
plans to add 3 casinos to the Reno area means we will see a lot of
changes to an town that was supposed to die off because of the indian
casinos in no. cal. ( downtown is on life support)

So what do they know that the naysayers dont? That Reno is exploding
& the increase in jobs is NOT from the casinos but from private
bizness escaping high taxes & disability insurance cost of Cal. plus
a fast growing retirement community that see Reno as a lower cost
alternative to vegas or Az.

A large increase in LOCALS got Stations attention ( their customer
base in Vegas} & the Pepp & Atlantis have thrived in the hard times
because they went after the Reno residents so they are not going to
roll over for Stations or anybody else . ( the small casinos that the
Pepp bought on the Utah border in the last 2 years + their coffee
shops seems to be giving them the kind of cash flow to allow them to
compete without cutting back service ie: GREAT COMPS)

So what does tis all means?? Maybe the Stations casinos stock price
will continue to grow as they seem to be determined to grow the co.
as much as possibile. That Atlantis might be a good buy again someday.
The Pepp is privately owened dammit

Competition is good!

Sure going to be interesting in Reno for the next few years!!!

But Stations offers a canned product. I can't see them competing with
PMR or Atlantis, not if what they offer at, say, Sunset or Santa Fe is
any indication of what will be on offer in Reno. At PMR, NSUD is
pretty much like playing junk, but Stations is chary of offering games
paying over 99% (unless if it's in the one or two designated "Optimum
Play" banks.

The fact that PMR is privately owned and not publicly held works in
the favor of the consumer.
