atlantis comp rate

I noticed that their tiers are based on points - without any indication of
how much play yields a point. e.g. the first tier (above the basic level)
takes 300 points - any idea how much VP play that is?

For FP JOB VP, I believe it's $50/point coin-in, or $15K of action for 300 points.

Unless there has been some change since Atl changed their comp system on October 1 of 2009, this comp rate is invalid! I posted a lengthy comment on Oct. 11 of last year here.....

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vpFREE_Reno/message/3247

I will be there again next week. I will check the same areas, and maybe a few others to verify what I found last October.

I am looking forward to your report as I will be heading to Reno for the first time in the fall and plan on running about $200,000 through the nickel hundred play JOB. So I will be interested in whether Atlantis or Silver Legacy will be my better play for a one-time non-return (at least anytime soon) visit.

Well after a three day visit to Atlantis, I am happy to report that Atlantis has increased their comp rates over what they were when they converted their Comp system last October. VP Comps now appeared to be earning around .23% to .35% depending on your location in the casino. Nickle and dime games seem to earn the lower rate. Quarter games seemed to earn around .31 to .35%. I did not check the 100%+ rounder, or the quarter 10/7 DB progressive bank.

The comp rate is even better if you can play on a 'Comp Multiplier' of the month. They post these dates on their website here....

http://www.atlantiscasino.com/club-paradise/PointMultiplier.asp

We were able to play on a 4X day and now have around $400 in our comps bank. (And we are low rollers)

We were invited to play in one of their monthly slot tournaments (one entry between the two of us). It was our first time to play in one there. We finished in 71st place and won $25. After the winners were announced, they hand out money prizes in random drawings. Probably around 30 of them, the smallest being $100. Well, they called my name out for one of the $100 prizes! Thought that was great, until they called my wife's name out for a $1000 prize!

$1125 profit, without even gambling! Obviously, we really enjoyed this trip. I also met with our new host, Diana Boucher. Super friendly and told me to let her know if I needed anything at all. Also, when she found out that my wife's birthday was 2 days previous, she sent us a bottle of champagne and a plate of chocolate covered strawberries up to our room.

We think we'll keep staying and playing here.....

Mike, if you are really not planning on coming back, you might be better off playing at Grand Sierra, where you can earn some real cashback. At Atlantis you only earn comps on your play. At Grand Sierra you earn .05% in comps or freeplay. I think the best game at G.S. is 9/6 JOB......

Don't you mean .50% comp rate not .05%.

I don't mind "comps only". I wonder if I can use the comps towards the hotel room cost if I make reservations directly with the Atlantis and not a third-party discounter like Travelocity, etc?
Grand Sierra sounds good and I'll probably check it out for some (if they still have that .50% cashback) 100% play. But the highest multi-line nickel JOB, assuming the Database is up to date, is 5 lines. I prefer the 100 line which won't make my eyes glaze over!

This is accurate info.

I spent a few hours running numbers on twelve of the highest EV banks/games (did not test anything at the single line quarter level) at Atlantis over the same weekend and my rate ranged from 0.155 to 0.36

Correct, George. Sometimes I lose my way with decimal points and percentages!!

Agreed. Talk about "your mileage may vary"!

Every time I go back now, I will retest the area I like to play at, and note any changes. A little bit of a pain, but no sense playing the same game on a different machine and earning less comps on it!

Mike, I am wondering if Atlantis is doing the same thing as SL, which has a different comp rate for each player and apparently different rates on different days. I experienced that myself. It may even change hour by hour.

I tend to kinda doubt that. I think everybody has the same comp rate. And I am almost positive that the comp rate does not change hour by hour. This goes way beyond any comp policy I have ever heard of. I can understand different rates for different machines, though. Reno is pretty liberal with their pay schedules. But if you play any in Vegas, you will notice most penny and nickle VP machines have tighter (shorter) pay schedules than quarters. The same can be said comparing quarters to dollars. This is because the casino does not make as much money on penny or nickle VP machines. A lot of the Atlantis nickle and dime games are still full pay. So by cutting the comp rate on those machines, they save a little more money.
