Atlantis changes

The Atlantis used to mail out single offers to joint accounts. Now they seem to mail offers to both parties on joint accounts. One side effect of this is that some couples get more offers than they used to (each party gets offers now), but some couples may stop getting offers entirely (because separately neither play qualifies for an offer, where combined their play used to qualify).

Their tournaments now fill up very early, partly because more couples have both players playing. Calling 3 weeks in advance for one of them got us put on a wait list.

Atlantis also changed their comp and host system a while ago. It now seems that they use a rolling 12 month system for determining tier level and comps, which wasn't the case a couple of years ago (there was originally no well defined tier system). They also seem to have more specific thresholds than they used to, and the hosts seem to have a lot less latitude than they used to. As they are very busy all the time, they seem to be a lot less customer oriented than they used to be. If you aren't a well known regular, you get snubbed in the high limit area - they used to be very welcoming to new faces.

The slot attendants seem to be very understaffed, and in some areas waiting 1/2 hour for an attendant to come is common. In one case I had a ticket that didn't spit out of the machine, so the machine is giving it's "smoke alarm" beep every few seconds driving everyone in the vicinity nuts. The nearby bar called twice to have a slot attendant sent over, but none were forthcoming. I wasn't going to leave my machine because I was cashing out a large ticket. Eventually someone else left their slot machine and practically had to drag a slot attendant over by the arm to deal with a 5 second issue.

I can't say that the Atlantis will feel much impact from the decline in quality of their service, right now they seem to be doing record business. But if there's another downturn in the casino business, they may find that they've lost a good chunk of their customers who are now looking elsewhere.

The Peppermill lost a lot of business to the Atlantis when they had customer service problems a while back, but they did a major push to resolve those issues, and right now the Peppermill seems to be doing a much better job, and they seem to have better promotions in general. A number of players seem to be getting turned off at the Atlantis and going back to the Peppermill now.

My take on Atlantis and Peppermill ...

Atlantis changed its formal comp program 6/04 ... it's now quite
similar to Peppermill. Players requalify (points go to zero) for
tiers every June, earned tier is good for one year. Marketing has
discretion in awarding tier based on rate of play (or other factors)
rather than absolute point totals.

Assigned host great way to get around the secretive slot club booth
(also true of Peppermill). Good discounts and food deals for club
members.

Comps a steady 0.66% of coin-in.

Quarterly offers (visitors) include match-plays, free play
(monthly), room, and food deal ... all proportional to tier ... and
generally not deducted from comp acct.

Fun (IMO) weekly/monthly slot tournaments and Sunday Cash Drawings,
although I really miss Card of the Day

Quality of VP is very good, but lack of FPDW a serious negative.

Top-notch resort, but could use Silver Legacy-type head-liner
entertainment (so could Peppermill).

I haven't noticed any deterioration in service. My interactions
with employees have been positive.

Atlantis and Peppermill are quite comparable ... choice is largely
matter of personal preference.

2-W (prefers Atlantis decor and music)

BTW ... any one know if Atlantis (or Peppermill) has a ceiling on
comp acct. valuations (above which comps are reduced or eliminated)?

marketing & slot club are not linked, my buddy gets full rfb based on
his history from marketing such as free slot touraments, free shows,
free rooms, per slot club still on 1st tier, 1/2 the time i buy his
smokes for him.

Assigned host great way to get around the secretive slot club booth

good luck if you are not assigned to somebody now, they have raised
the theshhold before you will "given" a host,

Those are from marketing, not slot club

wish i could say the same, from my trip this weekend & talkin to many
players they are really FED UP with Atlantis staff, lots of new faces
with poor social skills, Peppermill is benifting as players are
switching back to them. Met players at slot tourney who were fully
comped to tournament at Atlantis including room but refused to stay
there, staying at the Pepp instead !!!

Atlantis and Peppermill are quite comparable ... choice is largely
matter of personal preference.
