Are over-tippers really over-tippers?

A bartender at Hooters informed me that the standard tip for a royal
is 18%---just like a restaurant. You tip more (25%) for good service
and less (15%) for poor service. Therefore, all of you guys claiming
to tip 1% or 3% or 5% are looked upon as cheap. Period.

Ya right $150 for a $1000 jackpot.

LOL, this is hilarious. If I can order a RF off a menu and have that
bartender deliver it to my machine, you can count me in for 18%
everytime.

If you check out the jackpot photos I recently hit a triple royal on
a 25c Spin Poker machine at Hooters for $3000. They could have built
another Trump Tower in the time it took to get paid. The staff was
literally dumbfounded at seeing a machine requiring a handpay. First
time I had ever gotten a W-2G completely filled in by hand, nothing
typed, not even the name of the casino. Nevertheless, a good half
hour later I gave a $10 tip. The attendant looked happy and not
disappointed for not reveiving $540.

I have usually followed Jean Scott's example when she and Brad hit
the $100,000 dealt royal and she commented here tipping $500. You tip
a little more in friendly, familiar surroundings where you are likely
to return. If it isn't important to you or you don't care, then don't
tip. But, for me, that figure of 1/2% or so for a tip is a good
ballpark guideline even for lower jackpot amounts as well.

That's pretty funny, and here's a Paladin discard for you...one of the
bartops isn't a bad play there. I actually should be playing it
myself. (Yes, you have to figure out what the play is)

Is the bartender going to blow back 18% of my loss when I don't hit?
Many tipped employees, especially in Vegas, have a completely
distorted sense of reality.

Tell you what, you give away 18% of your royals and many full pay 100+ games then go negative. So, I don't give a Hoot if they think I'm cheap.

I'm with you, Hockey! Sounds like a great idea. I'd also order a
4 Deuces hand for a bargain 15% gratuity, or a two 4 Deuces hands for
a 12% tip on each! {{O:

Actually, I do have a tip for this greedy bartender; Perhaps if he got
real in his expectations, he might get a reasonable tip of 1% to 2%.
The way I look at it, 1%-2% of SOMETHING is much better than 18% of
nothing.

The unfortunate aspect of jackpot tipping is that some of the
attendants are disdainful of gambling in general and figure that as
long as you're throwing your money away you might as well throw some
in their direction as well.

The attendants I love most are those who are vp players themselves.
They're the ones who I find most appreciate a reasonable tip.

This whole thread reminds me of that gag post a few months ago about how the
service at a fake LV Strip casino was instituting a mandatory 20% tip when
you hit MegaBucks or something like that.

All he is looking for is a BIGGER golden parachute when Hooters goes by
way of the dinosaur.
