Appeals Court Rules Indian Tribes May Seize Cars

Seizing and keeping that SUV is way, way too steep for parking in a
handicapped space. The punishment should fit the crime, and in this case, I've got
strong sympathy for those in need of handicapped parking privileges since I
had to have those privileges for awhile. One does not expect to see
life-in-prison handed out for shoplifting a pack of gum, and one shouldn't lose the
vehicle for parking in the wrong place. A stiff fine plus towing and storage
fees would have been adequate.

"After a search of the vehicle, casino forces observed 6.8 grams of a
suspicious white powder along with $1463 in cash."

I think it was the coke that drove the property grab.
These hillbilly's are lucky it wasn't crack or
they'd be heading for a federal pen. I not so sure
big Cheif Double Down is a bad guy here.

I agree that losing his car because of the drugs is
not a bad thing. A heavy fine for parking in the
handicap zone is good also.
The question here is not his crime, it is the lack of
his right to appeal. In this case he is an
unsympathic victim of the sovereign nation thing.
My question is since he had no right to appeal, does
that mean that if you just parked illegally, or
perhaps pissed off a high ranking tribal member and
your car is impounded and then the tribal court says
they keep your car, you also have no right to appeal?
It appears so!
Though I have always been treated well on Indian land
and believe the Indian Nations are very responsive to
public relations and would not do this to an innocent,
the courts have in fact given them a free hand to do
so if they wish.
The fact that this guy seems to perhaps have been
worthy of jail time makes this a non PR problem but
they should not have this ability because if the power
to do this is there then someone, somewhere will take
advantage of it.
