I've stayed at the Budget Suites at Flamingo and Boulder (next to Sam's Town) two
years ago, and it was pretty decent for the price. I was there in March, and it looked
like there were a fair number of snowbirds who stayed there several months at a time.
My suite had a living area/kitchenette with full oven, fridge and full-size sink (no
microwave). The bedroom was sperated from the living area by a chest of drawers on
which sat the TV, which swiveled to face bed or living area. It was a bit on the spartan
side, but well-maintained. There are two pools and two coin laundries. The complex
has about 18 buildings, I think.
Interestingly, there seemed to be a number of cats on the grounds, presumably
owned by long-term guests. Several sat in windows, but a couple were actually loose.
I like cats, so I found it a bit charming. The proximity to Sam's, plus a supermarket
across the street, 24-hour Walgreen's next door, and several fast-food joints nearby
means that you can leave the car parked for a while, if you like.
Budget also has other locations in Vegas, including one near the Strip behind the
Stardust.
I may do the move-to-Vegas thing myself in about a year, and if I do, I'll start out
either at Budget or Emerald Suites, a more-upscale extended-stay place with high-
speed Internet. They have a location about three miles south of Mandalay Bay on Las
Vegas Blvd., and a couple of others.

You can stay at Budget Suites for "$169.00 Moves You In," so the sign says
and they rent daily, weekly, monthly. That would give you time to find what you
want. I would stay away from anything owned or managed by CONAM. Hope this
helps.
