Anyone heard of "8-ball VP"???

I was recently having a conversation with a woman who was complaining
about Harrah's N.O. not having any machines that she likes. She said
that she hates to play slots, and only plays "cards". Well, "cards" is
a term that non-VP players sometimes use to describe video poker, but
she could also have been talking about table games, so to clarify I
asked her "You mean video poker?". She said yes. I told her that
Harrah's N.O. must have over 500 video poker games, and asked her what
she usually played. She said "they don't have any of the games like
they have at Harrah's Cherokee". She went on to say that she likes to
play a game called "8-ball". She then described some sort of crazy
game involving cards, pool balls, and some big bonus for getting 5 of a
kind.

I'm guessing she might have been describing a VLT type game, but I
don't know. Anyone here heard of this?

Well, it looks like no one else has heard of this game either. What
was funny was that this lady acted like "8-ball" was the most common
casino video poker game in the world. Forget about those wierd games
like Double Bonus or Deuces Wild, she wanted 8-ball!

Could this be the game you are talking about??? Eight Ball VP…saw it at Harrahs Cherokee Casino in Cherokee North Carolina…it was on an old style VP machine that also has other VP games like Lucky Shamrock VP Progressive. I watched a girl play a game of pool by touching each ball to line them up for a pocket and finally pocketing the 8 ball for a bonus win. It was a .25 machine and she won approx $100. Did not see how the game of pool came up, but it had to be from a VP card deal since all the games on the machine were VP. Will check next time I am in the area.

FYI: All the machines in Harrahs Cherokee are Class III. Most VP pay tables are poor, but they have recently added decent pay tables for $5 play on a previous $1 bank just outside the high limit area (still have the $1 and $2 but pay the tables drop). They also have $25 8/5 Bonus and $100 9/6 JoB.

  Hope this helps…Chuck and Kathy

Since the lady describing this game mentioned that she normally played
at Harrah's Cherokee, I would say yes - that's probably the game she
was talking about. Thanks.

She might have been talking about a VP game called Crazy Eights. I
remember they had it briefly in nickels in the palace station like 15
years ago. I've never seen it anywhere else since so it might have
been one of those ones that the mfg tested and then decided not to roll
out. The paytable was even money on 2 pair and quad eights paid either
1000 or 4000 I'm trying to remember which.
