I just received an offer for a 2 day weekend junket to Grand Casino
Tunica out of Gary, IN. The database for their VP menu is dated and
I'm wondering if anyone can update the current selection. Any thoughts
on the holtel, casino, etc. Thanks.
Anybody have info on Grand Casino Tunica?

At the Grand, you'll find 9/6 JOB up to $1. Possibly still up to $5 but I haven't checked that recently. I'm not familiar with all VP games and the paytables but of the games that I do play, the 9/6 JOB is the best game at the Grand. The best deuce game paytable appears to be Illinois Dueces and there are some 9/6 DDB , if you consider these games playable for you.
There are 3 hotels.....The Grand, The Veranda, and The Terrace Spa Hotel. All are nice, very neat and well kept. I prefer the beds at the Veranda, as they are the softess with pillowtops.
The Diamond Lounge at the Grand is okay...but nothing really special. However, just 5 minutes away is the Horseshoe with a brand new lounge that is extremely nice! However, I haven't found the VP at the Horseshoe promising.
If you golf, Cottonwoods at the Grand is a wonderful course. However, it's been extremely cold here in recent weeks with no major warm up in sight.
There are several dining places, a buffet and snack bars. All fairly decent except the buffet. LB's Steakhouse is usually real good but some consider it to be over priced. I consider it to be mid-range priced.
If smoking is an issue, smoking is still permitted everywhere in Tunica. There is a non-smoking area upstairs at the Grand that usually seems vacant. I'm not sure if any of the other casino's are still offering non-smoking sections or not.
If you like to casino hop, they have a shuttle service to all the other casino's for $1. Harrah's offers a shuttle to just the Harrah's properties for free but it only runs on weekends
Hope this is somewhat helpful.
Good Luck,
Nita

9/6 JB is available up to $5.

I've found the Grand hotel (next to the casino) is not as well
kept as the other two. IMO, housekeeping throughout Tunica is below
the standard of many other gaming jurisdictions. I also make the
Veranda my tower of choice at the Grand due to the closer self
parking.

I agree that that the HS lounge is very nice but their VP is
absolutely pathetic.

The Horseshoe buffet in Tunica is a must.

As the resident VPFree Tunica expert Sam has stated, smokers in
Tunica are downright militant. Smoking is EVERYWHERE (except some
poker rooms...though the smokers all congregate on the rail so it
lingers in), and many steakhouses in town do not even offer a non
smoking area. Some smokers demonstrate courtesy and will do their
best to position their pigarette so the smoke drafts in an agreeable
direction, but most don't bother. There was once a cigar smoking
barfly at Resorts that prompted quite the verbal exchange one
evening.....
