Any subtle strategy changes from 9/6 JoB to 8/5 BP?

What am I missing here? Playing 8/5 BP with 9/6 JOB strategy gets you 99.16% return, as
opposed to a perfect BP strategy return of 99.17% How will any "subtle" changes make
any REAL difference?

As I said, I may be trying to answer the wrong question....

I avoid BP not because it pays poorly. In some casinos it is the best
game available. But when you aren't getting 4OK the reduced FH and FL
payoffs hit you very quickly.

I strategize BP from looking at 8/5 JOB which I won't play but Harrahs
wants us to since they are flooding Caesars with it. So, just look at
hands with FL and SF opportunities vs. holding high cards and you will
intuitively make a decent decision. Your "shots" at a SF are worth
less in BP since many times you end up with the lower paying (than
JOB) flush. So you don't go for them as aggressively. That's sort of
how I look at it.

I don't think that you're missing anything of any consequence, bl.

I believe that even the pickiest of Gurus will not quarrel too much
with using 9/6JOB strategy while playing 8/5BP.

Quoting figures calculated by Harry, which I made note of awhile
ago, the exact difference in EV, if using JOB Strategy on BP,
is .008% (99.158 vs, 99.166). I would assume that this tiny
difference is attributable a few rather obscure 3 card SF holds,
being less valuable in 8/5BP, due to the FL pay reduction.

Despite the lower EV, I actually prefer BP to JOB because of the
extra excitement when popping bonus quads, particularly when playing
at the dollar level.

Interestingly, if you allow that we're not likely talking "perfect"
play (i.e. accurately factoring penalty cards into play), the adjusted
ER's are even closer.

The ER of 8/5 BP playing a basic "non penalty" strategy is 99.164% If
you apply basic 9/6 JB strategy to the game, the adjusted ER is
99.161% -- a reduction of only .003%. (Data from Frugal VP software)

Unless your play is the picture perfect, it's a no brainer not to
sweat the difference.
