Any other exclusive Full Pay Video Poker players here?

Hey guys,

I play only FPDW because a game where I know I will lose long term just isn't fun for me. I know that is the nature of gambling and if you are like my parents and love it, more power to you, but it isn't for me.

What I am wondering is, do any of you also only play FP VP? I reached President status and stations last period and have received zero offers. I can only assume this is due to the FPDW play, despite 100k coin in. I was hoping to hear of some experiences from others receiving (or not receiving) any comp offers when playing FP VP. I am really only looking for free rooms here as I am not a local.

"Positive" indicates that a base game has an expected return over 100%, such as FPDW or 10/7 DB. There are many "full pay" games that do not have an expected return over 100%, such as 9/6 JoB or 8/5 Bonus Poker.

Very few of the advantage plays I have involve a VP game that pays over 100%. And if they do involve such a game, the payback from the VP portion is a small percentage of the over all play.

You mention FPDW. Playing for quarters, 1000 hph, is worth $9.50 a hour. There are many better plays out there at the quarter level.

You have to think base play + free play + mailers + promos + ......

In 1998, there were $20 - $30 per hour plays for the base game only. Not the case anymore.

With all of the information available out there, it should not have been a surprise to you that they weren't going to give you benefits for playing 100K coin-in on FPDW. Sounds like you did minimal research before jumping head first into video poker. Whose fault is that?

By the way, 100K coin-in is a statistically small sample in this game.

It does if you play well enough, and long enough. "Long enough" might mean a very long time, depending on your edge. But math is math.

If you expect to win in short sessions, you might need to get another hobby.

exactly, if you want to hang out until your eyes burnout you might come out ahead you might not. I live out of town so comps are important rooms, food, shows, so that's part of the game. But that's for myself

At the quarter level, without doing progressives, you can pick your spots, learn to assess what small promotions are worth, and figure out what your play will earn in monthly mailers. That's not easy to do. It's difficult to figure out what different casinos use for criteria. Play with it, test it, ask friends what they do. And don't forget, only playing on multiplier days might get you "punished" just like playing only FPDW will get you "punished". It's a complicated endeavor. And when you get free play on a mailer, don't just go pick it up and then leave. Integrate it into your regular play. Give them action. Unless you never plan on entering their casino again.

It's tough to give a cookie-cutter answer to your question.

The point of "precision play" is to extend your bankroll as far as possible between large payouts.

It is of interest to see what the payback ratio is without jackpots. That will be your usual experience.

Get the word "win" out of your head. You do not "win" a jackpot. You purchase it.

Las Vegas locals can play play a negative 25c game at several casinos
on multi point days where EV, plus free play from points earned, plus
the subsequent monthly mailer totals over $9.50/hour, and they
probably get some free food also.

Are you saying .25 nsud is better on dbl point days at .25 lvl? i know 99.7% return .3 cashback dbl points makes .6 for total 100.3%. Are you saying mailers and such are worth more than .4%? Assuming 1000 hph (which for my wife and I is a little low), how many hours of play would we be talking about? I get tired after about 2 hours of play, but my wife is like a machine and can play for very long periods.

Of course there is all also .25 triple dueces which is 99.8% but higher variance. (but a very easy strategy to play a lot less decisions)
