Any independent properties worth playing at?

How about downtown? Nice to visit. Old LV Hilton?? Circus Circus part of chain? Where OH where?

Problem, in Vegas us outa towners lose points if we don’t travel every couple months. They reset them every 6 months or so. Hey, AC jumped on band wagon. Pennsylvania came on line. I’m 20 miles from local joint.

I’m 350 miles to AC & 4 hours flying to Vegas. So, where do I go to be treated like crap? I like Vegas and I like AC. BUT, I don’t think they even care much if I go there. Neither does AC. I have a couple hosts in AC, though, that still call me. I may make AC my regular spot.

My local joint changed hands 2-3 times. Used to be Cannery property (Meadows). It was reasonable. Alas, gone & new folks tightened games tighter than a ducks rear, and that’s waterproof. I’m lucky if I get comped a free box of popcorn every month. I go to another place near by and see many people who used to go to Meadows.

Downtown has decent choices The Cal is newly renovated and the Downtown Grand has newly updated rooms both at reasonable rates. 4Queens not the best rooms but not that bad and a great value.

Staw away from Circus Circus all the reviews say it is nasty.

the Tier points systems are virtually eliminating the budget traveler visitor…I think it will bite the bean counters in the ass at some point. I looked at 4 Queens…never stayed there and do not particularly want to stay DT, but they have no resort fee and some renovated rooms. Peeps say try to get a room away from the noise of Fremont St.

Cheers and Good luck

How is parking downtown by Fremont Casino? We haven’t been there in years.

I would look at 4Q’s. They have done some remodeling of the rooms. We don’t find them objectionable at all. They aren’t the Golden Nugget, nor are they supposed to be.

Four Queens is the ONE place that has held the line on resort fees, parking fees, downgraded slot club benefits (the change they made sometime back actually improved the flexibility of benefits) and the rest of the squeeze we have seem from every one of the other operators. For our situation, there isn’t anywhere else that is close from a value perspective.

We have been doing most of our Vegas play at 4Q’s for many years. We have played with Boyd as well, but between axing the full pay PKM at the Fremont and all of their shenanigans with B-Connected, our Vegas-Boyd play days may be through after this year if we don’t end up making Sapphire.

Boyd did end up with the Ameristar properties in KC and ST. Louis out of the Pinnacle/Penn National deal. KC paytables are terrible, but there are still a few good machines at the St. Louis property. If they maintain the current player’s club/point structure, we will continue to do some play there. If they revert to the Vegas-Boyd full pay punishment structure, that will probably end our play there as well.

IMO, a willingness to be adaptable is only way you are going to be able to prevent further degrading of your edge. Four Queens is still a place that you can make work.

I’m not so sure it’s budget customer thing. One can take a one time visit dropping $5000 in 3-4 days. Tier time changes u’re value to casino at 0. I realize 5G (5K for young vpers) ain’t a big deal to Casino. I suspect casinos are in tourist business FIRST. Forget the gambling. Expensive rooms, food, drinks & entertainment. I am traveling Vegas for trade show. It’s not same old Vegas. I am comp rooms for 10 days. I’ll survive.

I don’t think they value customer anymore…

I realize it’s their joints. They can do as they wish. As we know, we can choose the properties that treat us with respect.
