I play Pai Gow Poker and blackjack in the pit most Friday nights at
GVR. I give them my Idiot Card to swipe and they tell me that I am
being tracked, and that I have a separate "comp account" for my pit
action that doesn't intersect my slot points account. Fine. A couple
of months ago I decided to use this pit comp account and inquired of
the floorman just how much comp value I had accumulated (since my
average bet was $25 I figured there should be SOMETHING...). He told
me "about $300". Well, at that I took the family out for a sumptuous
meal at Il Fornaio (I highly recommend it BTW). The check was $133.
About a month later I decided to repeat the experience. Guess what--
I was told that not only did I not have any comps in my pit account,
but that the only tracked play shown in the last three months was 1
1/2 hours in May!! No other record of my weekly play existed!!
Needless to say, half an hour of bitching and complaining got me
NOWHERE. I'm not going to play any pit games at Stations any longer!
And a word to the wise--don't let any comp value sit ANYWHERE--in
slot points or in these nebulous "pit comps". Stuff has a way of
disappearing, particularly when properties change hands, or---for no
reason at all.
